Hey guys - haven’t posted in this forum in a while as I’ve had good luck - until now.

1988 Aussie HJ75 - put it in 4H to get it in the boat garage out back. Parked it and after 5 minutes or so, I noticed a lot of gear oil puked out from the t-case. Goes in and out of 4WD just fine. Haven’t pulled the skid plate off yet as I wanted to see if anyone has had this issue or know a potential fix.

You are going to have to remove the skid plate to get a better view. Pictures if possible.

Laziness never pays off here… looks like the culprit?

I assume the rubber boot should just be friction fit in the t-case? It’s not cracked but seems like it will not fit snug back in.

Boot does not hold back fluid, the seal does. There may be a trick to replace only the seal over the front axle actuator shaft but in reality the whole seal system is olde and maybe it is time to rebuild the t case.

Right. I tried re-seating the seal but it’s harder than a rock and won’t seat. Thanks.
