Can you show me a picture of your intermittent wipers switch and controller. I don't know if that was ever available in the US. I have an 82 FJ40.

Toyotaman - the wiper switch is a pull switch on the switch cluster (if you look at my interior pics it is the one on the bottom row next to the park/brake/4wd indicator light) - it has three pull-out settings, the first is intermittent, then slow, then high speed. (and they say these TLC's are basic, :meh:). The controller box is under the dash, behind the speedo cluster - see related thread here - https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/207269-noisy-wiper-intermittent-setting.html. It will be a few weeks before I get that out, but I'll post pics when I get there.

Herbs - I looked for this little LX for a very long time, almost every day - and man it has been so worth it! I'm really inspired by the skill and dedication of the mudders, some awesome stuff, but I don't have the skill or the time and I needed a daily driver. As for the a/c, there is a silver sticker but it is so buggered I cannot decipher the details - but that is useful to know about the VDJ relationship, thank you.

..and my oil pressure gauge rises with increased revs. Bugger! Any other ideas before I take her to the auto electrician?
It should be higher when revving than at idle, Gary- that sounds normal to me

Thanks Theo. Sometimes the pressure gauge reads a bit high, it's my first diesel ever, so I am getting used to the quirks. I meant to ask you about your snorkel - another one of those things to be done down the track - but it looks like it would be better to fit it on the right side. Why did you choose to put yours on the left?

Thanks, from a wet and soggy Queensland!

Whats the deal with the rear seat was it modded and turned or is that OEM for an LX---never seen that before?

Not guilty sir !

Darn aussie PO did it that way

Gary,

Can you check the angle of your A/C evaporator - I think that they should fit up under the dash more then what yours is in the previous photos.

Thanks Dan, good catch, appreciate that - mine does look to be a little too much to the vertical. Haven't even gotten to that side of the truck yet - damn work keeps getting in the way!

Explorer1456 - my ossewa is nou heeltemal die moer in laat jy haar 'n bakkie noem - sy is 'n opregte dame met tapyt en verkoeling :p Thanks, I'm really chuffed with her!

Could you post some close up shots of the front and rear seat mounting points and seat belts? Thanks.

Hey toyotaman, I only have some pics of the rear so far, haven't gotten to the front seats yet. My skydrive album for the rear is Rear Interior - Windows Live - it should give you most of what you are looking for on the rear seats and belts - but let me know if you need anything more detailed (some of the pics are large so you can see the details)

try this: Kunnen inwoners van zuidafrika dan ook prima nederlands lezen?
ben ik dan wel weer benieuwd naar.. :) wil ook een keer naar zuid afrika, nooit geweest...

Hey Folkert,

Yes we can ;) to a point, and you'll love South Africa if you get a chance to visit, some great offroad adventuring to be had. The similarities between Afrikaans and Dutch are great, a little less so with German but after a few beers we can even speak Flemish

Thanks crusty, and I agree - although it has driven the local pricing of these right on up.

no, you can blame the Americans for driving the price up. most of the good ones have already been sold to overseas. more go every day...:frown:

saw the same thing happen in Canada a few years back, once the yanks got wind of diesel cruisers in the Canadian market... bye bye for top dollar.

such is the way of a free market:meh:

i'm not trying to hate on Americans, just saying.

glad to see there are a few around Brisbane, with the intention of "forever".

cheers

Could any of you post a picture of a factory mudflap bracket with dimensions for a 40 series. Thanks!

Unobtainium obtained

Recently acquired a few more missing parts for my truck - the rear bench seat side arm rest, rear middle seat belt, jump seat floor latch, cigarette lighter :bounce: The list of missing bits to get her to OEM is getting shorter.

Mostly just missing the bottle jack handle and crank, a few tools for the tool bag, front bumper with gussets and extensions, rear mudflaps and brackets. The obsession continues and the wallet gets lighter but having heaps of fun.

@toyotaman - I'll get the mudflap measurements for you, just need a bit of time.
