Do you know if it's series 55 or series 20 67D balls that fit this RAM Tough track? I do like the lower profile like the Yakattack
Series 20.
There is probably only 1/8” difference between tough track and Yak.

Are those Series 20 67 Designs track balls in the YakAttack? I couldn’t get mine to fit with the included hardware as I couldn’t unscrew the bolts enough to slide them into the Yak rail without the nut falling off. I should have taken some comparison photos showing the RAM and 67D track ball hardware side by side to show the difference in size, but the nuts were quite a bit smaller on the 67D. I probably could have replaced the bolts with slightly longer ones and made it work, but they just didn’t seem like a really good fit anyway even if the bolts had been long enough.

Ok I finaly got around to playing with the 20mm balls. Luckily I have my 2nd YakAttack rail not installed on the plate yet so I can see the backside and play around. I tried the little silver nut plate facing up and facing down. It os oh so close to fitting. I think I'm going to try sourcing a slightly longer bolt for it from the hardware store. There is enough clearance on the bottom of the YakAttack to still sit flat even with a longer bolt. It starts to slide in the end of the YakAttack, but then where it gets thicker it just needs an ever so slightly longer bolt.

I've only worked with Ram balls on the Yak rail, but looking at your photos I would suggest trying some fender washers to find something that will better distribute the forces on the top.

It looks like the Ram ball has a substantially wider collar at the bottom, as well as some kind of plastic washer that goes between it and the rail surface. Not to mention this one is all metal, and likely able to be tightened down harder (once you've got enough threads to do it).

A fender washer won’t work on the top as the 67D top piece has a dovetail that sits in the slot to help prevent it from spinning.

Yes, fit no problem

Weird, I wonder if yours came with slightly longer bolts as @DPA200 and I clearly ran into the same issue. I probably should have tried a longer bolt, but the fit seemed sloppy enough due to the smaller nut that I wasn't convinced it would be a great long term solution. If @DPA200 finds it works fine just by substituting a longer bolt, I may re-order at some point as being able to tighten the track balls down with a wrench rather than how the RAM track balls work would be nice.

Anyone using Gamviti spare tire receiver? I have a Dissent tire carrier. From the pics I think the mounting plate slips over the tire carrier lug studs and is just sandwiched between the spare tire and the tire carrier. Is there a way to bolt the Gamiviti receiver to the tire carrier so it stays in place with the spare tire removed? The pic below on the FJ40 seems to show the nuts on the lug studs. I suppose you could double nut if there is space? Or maybe drill holes in the Dissent carrier?

Use it all the time. There's currently no way to keep it on the studs with the spare removed, by default, but I suspect a method could be figured out... why? are you just worried about it falling off when you're changing a tire, or do you actually want to use the receiver hitch and no spare? It stays put plenty good enough to allow you to get the spare on, certainly hasn't been an issue for anyone.

I was just wanting it to stay put to avoid another loose piece while changing a tire. Not a big deal but I can guarantee I'll find it laying on the ground AFTER I put the tire back on the carrier. Probably easy to drill a couple small holes for small bolts to hold it in place. I'd never use it without a tire in place so the bolts could be small.

Did some more playing around on Amazon and Ace Hardware today. I found 2 alternative YakAttack rails (on Amazon) that fit the 67D series 20 balls with no issue. The silver one shown GT175 is metal which is awesome, but obviously too long (and too silver), I just ordered to see if it fit as it was the fastest available option on Amazon. It's available in other sizes and in black. The Black one shown GTSL90 is fine as-is, but it's plastic and labeled "light duty". Not 100% sold on either just style-wise, I just wanted to confirm they do indeed work as an alternative option:

@greynolds , I did also source the longer bolt from Ace today. The 67D supplied bolt was M6 25mm. I bought a couple M6 30mm and they are just the tiniest bit too long. You can see the threads stick out just a smidge on the bottom when tightened down. I'm sure this would still work, but I'd either have to accept the rail may not sit 100% flat, or at the very least it'd scratch my Gamiviti metal. I considered putting a layer of felt or rubber under the YakAttack, but I already have my hardware that attaches the rail to the metal lengths dialed in, and don't feel like doing that all over again. Now Ace only had 25mm and 30mm long, nothing in between. 27-28mm long would probably be perfect, but I'd have to find that odd size online somewhere. I also am considering filing a mm off the end, but always a gamble whether the nut would thread after. I'll probably try that no loss besides a couple $ in bolts.

The more I look at them I really like the silver metal version. I may stick with that and just find a shorter black version of it. Just as low profile, but metal and same width and possibly same hole spacing

What about a washer under the bolt head?

That's a great idea. I tried a washer down under the ball, but that prevented it from fitting in the slot. I bought a couple variations on the M6 washers, but just tried and neither fit in the 67D cutout. I'd imagine there is a washer out there that fits, just nothing i can find. It's like i'd need an M6 washer with a very narrow OD

If you were to do that at the head of the bolt, I think the bolt head might stick up above the top of the ball and potentially cause issues with attaching arms to it. Using a grinder to carefully shorten the bolts a mm or so might work as finding bolts that are between 25mm and 30mm would likely be difficult.

It looks like the mounting hole pattern on the GT175 is different, so that would require drilling extra holes in the Gamiviti plate - not the end of the world, but not ideal either. I do like that it's made of aluminum though.

Run a couple nuts on the little bolt and cut a few mm off with a hacksaw. File any jagged edges.
When you run the nuts off they will fix the thread at the cut.

Ah ok, yes you could do that. or a piece of good double sided tape would do it.

Yeah after sleeping on it, I must say I am really starting to prefer the Aluminum YakAttack over the original plastic one. It's not any higher profile, really high quality feeling, and I feel better being able to really tighten down the balls good since it's metal. My original plastic YakAttack I overtightened the mounting bolts and cracked is several of the holes, not leaving me super confident in it. My fault for probably way over-tightening, but still.

So turns out the Aluminum YakAttack is only available in silver, but it does come in a shorter 8"w length, with matches the actual track width of the regular YakAttack. I have this version coming today from Amazon. I think it's worth drilling a couple extra holes to go this way for me. I'll probably leave it silver and just see if it ends up bothering me, if so I can just paint it black.

You could also consider drilling extra holes in the YakAttack aluminum rail instead of in the Gamiviti itself, using the plastic rail for the hole pattern. Please post how this works out for you as I may follow suit and re-order (ugh...) the 67D track balls.

Another good idea, thx man. I’d already drilled through the factory plastic in 4 spots to get the Toyota plastic to tuck up tight into the Gamiviti plate, so would definitely prefer to reuse those same holes. Yeah I’ll definitely post the finished results. You can feel my 20mm ball dedication. I’m thinking this will work though
