Nice solution....

This will be the lug now used on the negative lead on the FZJ80 kit.

Stu, Ive got a single Optima yellow top D35 and a remanufactured oem sequioa/tundra alternator on Photomans bracket. I am in the process of putting together a decent audio system that includes a 600watt amp for sub. I have a winch in mind but not until the spring. Im not sure if it matters but I have the slee headlight harness upgrade and HIRs also.

Flow, I had a 96 suburban with a serious system and first thing I did was add a second battery. You will see that a good number of folks on MUD with winches have a dual battery setup. I think you can do it all (winch & system) with out it, but it would give you more power.

I was hoping to do the electrical system in stages. I will consider the dual set-up, bluesea switch, and additional wiring when I do the winch next year.

As for right now, I am putting the sub box and other stereo components together and I want to optimize the wiring for what Ive got now.

Is this misguided? Do I stand to save a lot of money by doing something different?

Also, why did you use a 200 amp fuse? How did you address the fusible links?

With a 150amp alternator coming.. I chose 200samp to handle the new output. I figured 15amp would be too close n would blow.

Good link Stu...I have been contemplating doing some jumper cables as well. If someone is interested in a set of very high quality cables, I can price those as well. Would have a quick disconnect hardwired at the battery and as long of leads as you want (as much as you want to pay for). If anyone wants those, let me know. Oh and thanks for the positive comments. I appreciate your business and especially any constructive criticism I get from MUD.

Do you offer any kind of beefy DC terminal strips to connect multiple electronic feeds to? Im supprised Stu is taking the time, effort and money to clean things up and upgrade yet still leaving that rats nest on top of the battery. Maybe Im missing the point here. Also Burndy offers a solid 90 degree lug but is probably a little pricy.

I don't offer any kind of terminal strip, but could certainly look into it. This is a new request so, will have to do some research. As far as the 90 degree lug goes, I have a sourced identified and will most standard on the FZJ80 kit at no additional cost.

LOL I didnt mean anything bad by your product or his work I just was referring to +12v and GND cables routing all over the top of the battery. I do alot of DC work in the telecom field so Im used to being really anal about cable flows and all the attachments. Never really liked how auto manufactures dont offer accessory terminations other than trying to bolt them all on the battery terminals somehow. Some decade I will try to re-wire mine and clean it up some but it would be embarrising to show so here is the picture I was referencing.

Otamiway,

Are you happy with the custom alternator cable as designed? I bought the competitors upgraded cable set but never followed through with also having the alternator cable upgraded. I am going to order one from Mark if you are happy with how it came out.

Very happy with it. I had him make it long enough to give options on where to place my fuse. The quality is top notch.

One last question. Please enlighten me on the two piece design of the upgraded alternator cable. Is the 200 amp fuse to replace the stock fusible link because the tundra alternator is not compatible with it?

I did not replace the fusible link. Its a direct alternator connection. The 2 piece is to locate the fuse at an appropriate location. HTH

Looking to find out what length cables you guys are using on the 2nd battery setups?

I have Mark's cables installed but need to get my dual setup in and DK what length and # of cables we need.

Anybody want to chime in?

Mark will be making that set as well....

Plan on going high on the firewall and will be using an OEM 2nd battery box (91) and Optima 31M for the 2nd battery

Cheers,
Mike
