It occurs to me that I may need to have something custom built. I now have the 1HD-t and the radiator was enlarged a bit.

I have another project with a local welder going and I may have something welded up for protection.

Are you using the HDJ7* radiator? You could probably use the HDJ78/79 bash plate. If I was getting one made up, I would be getting stronger tabs welded onto the the transverse bar at the front.

I'd be interested in a group buy too. Although I saw @Gun Runner 5 jump in too - is this something that can be easily fabricated in the States?
Unfortunately Odd Iron is booked through the end of 2020 and is not taking on new projects at this time.

I believe I'm using the radiator that came with the original 3b but it was modified with a little extra capacity.

I'm putting solar on top of the Alucab pop top. I don't want to drill holes in the top to mount the panel as far forward on the roof as it will go. I met with a guy that welds aluminum and he is going to fab a lightweight aluminum rack for the front of the top. I've seen the guys work and he does amazing stuff. I should have some pics in the early part of April. My box for the rear bumper arrives in early April as well. While the truck is there I'm going to ask him to see about welding a plate for protection. Should be a fun project. Pics as soon as available.

I'm going to ping Custom Offroad again... never heard back.

I was placing an order for the front inner fender well skirts that cover the gap between the chassis and the inner fenders so figured I'd pick up the newer splash guard part I found. Here's some photos...

This actually worked on my truck. And so far it's doing the job of reducing splash up into the engine bay. But I'd still like to see something metal in there. Will keep everyone posted on Custom Offroad and a group buy.

Does anyone have pics of these plastic pieces mounted in their original locations? I think I know where the skinny one goes... but no clue on the bigger one.

Those OEM pieces look like metal to me. I think the skinny one goes under the transmission/transfer case but I'm not in country so I can't look to verify.

Unfortunately I no longer have photos of my skid plates (or the Land Cruiser for that matter) but in my application (HZJ77) the big skid plate protected the transmission while the smaller one covered the transfer case. Both plates were FAR MORE substantial than the factory offering.

Were the factory pieces metal?

We’re the factory pieces metal?
I believe mine were plastic which I deemed to be worthless. The replacements were 1/4" steel.

I need to look up all of my splash/skid plates. I have 5, and only have the tranny/T-case one on.
Not even sure where they all go. Or if the one on top is even for it?

Fantastic. Thanks for the pics? Are those all plastic? Or are the top two metal?

they are all metal I’m pretty sure. That top one is the one I have no idea about where it goes.
Did you ever look up the skid plates in a parts book? I remember on the bj-70 I had that there was a cover between the front one and the one over the transfer case. Was kind of a bear to take off and put on.
