Front Doors on Alibaba

Alright, the Alibaba manufacturer replied to me. We'll see how this goes... but it seems like they are hesitant to do business with me since I don't operate a LC parts business. Probably fair. lol

Also, in case anyone is looking at this thread and is looking for later model doors, these are on ebay right now:

I asked the seller for pictures after right after sandblasting, and this is what he sent me. He said he did some metal work and added some filler. I added the red arrow to the second pic to point out that something seems a little off there... the door is a bit wavy. I'm passing on these because I would really prefer to know how much body filler is on the door before plunking down the cash. But thought I'd share in case anybody's looking.

That may be fair , but, if they released a couple doors to you , if the quality is good and word spread it would be a wonderful advertising strategy.

The tools are a spinning shaft, some carbide cutters and a table,,, what you do with them is determined by your skill level www.mtpickettwoodworking.com This year marks 50 solid years as professional woodworker. Never been a fry cook, a softwarer engineerr or an insurance salesman. Never had a trust fund. Built this wagon on a 400 dollar '47 ford pickup truck. I cut it off behind the windshield, and built the rest from a pile of maple boards. Rebuilt all the mechanicals and drive it both on my island and also up and down Interstate 5 when I get off island....

@island45 China is not the new Japan. Comparing the two, apples to apples is a HUGE insult to the Japanese. They are a completely different people with different values altogether.

I get that after the war people had a bad feeling about them. What they did to us at Pearl, and in the pacific was terrible. Let's just say, they payed dearly for their actions.
The United States embargoed Japans oil. Japan does not have an oil source. Japan's energy supply was cut off for a BS reason. Does anyone really believe that Japan suddenly decided to bomb Pearl Harbor?

The Japanese do not do anything without reason. My point was, they paid the price for their actions in the entirety of the war. Their debt was paid. No reason to have a bad attitude against the people decades later. If not for the war, my grandfather would not have been in Japan in the 50's, and if not for that, I wouldn't have 10 or so FJ40's.

So, what was the BS reason ? Curious to know.

Still going back and forth with the alibaba seller... between time zone differences and a language barrier, it's slow-going. But she sent me a picture of one of their doors bolted up. The e-coating is still there, so it doesn't look like it has been re-worked at all. Looks promising, but you never know till you get your hands on them. She tells me they have a warehouse in LA, and told me I could just buy a set from that warehouse... but getting answers as to how I can actually complete the transaction is getting annoying. lol

That's a tough call on those doors. Probably fit as well as the aftermarket chinese fenders, which fit okay, but they are not OEM. That picture looks decent, does the door look short at the top?

Makes me recall years ago working on my fathers fleet of fords. We ordered some body parts from LCM Truck. We replaced the front fender on his 86 F250, it fit, okay, I guess, turn signal hole was about 3/8 inch too long, the light covered it okay. The plastic grille and headlight parts were fair. We also replaced the tailgate on our 87 Bronco, since they all rust out on the bottom eventually, that was a different adventure. First tailgate showed up on the UPS truck, of course the driver like cartwheels the thing out the back. It has two 55 gallon drum marks on the box. You can imagine what the big hollow Bronco tailgate looked like when we opened it. Arranged return, UPS come again, cartwheels another "tailgate" out the back. Dad looks it over and tells em to put it back on the truck, box was only about 2 inches thick, LCM had sent a pickup tailgate. Third tailgate comes, it was decent, we made it look alright with paint, but the bottom edge thickness was about 1/2 inch too thin, it never would seal up the body of the truck on the lower opening, leaked dust like crazy, we had to just keep a blanket piled against it.

So hard to tell with foreign parts. Too bad the original 40 dies are gone, would have been cool if someone had got them.

Braden620;
When "in the '50's" was your grandfather in Japan?? (makes me feel old!) Also, "Where" in
Japan was he?? I lived in Japan from '53-'55, almost three years.. Dad was stationed at
Tachikawa AFB (flying B-29's) and we lived in a "Military Housing Compound" known as
Green Park.. a mile or so from the burg of Mitaka.. Both Green Park and Tachi were a thirty
minute bus ride from Tokyo.. AND a thirty minute bus ride from each other..

To curb japanese expansion in the Pacific and support China against Japanese aggression

Those doors look fine to me. I wonder if they produce the early doors ?

As far as I know they recently acquired a rust free blue FJ45 (1966 ?) pulled it apart and copied it completely, right now working on the tailgate as last part to copy.

In some ways a reputable company with real good tools is a good thing. Perhaps they will be better than anyone thinks.

Gap seems way too big.......???

Still no answer. Disallowing Japanese to massacre everyone is not BS to me. Is stopping a massacre BS to you, apparently.
I think you missed the irony in my answer
