A friend asked me today to assist in getting her favorite old truck back up and running. It's a 93 manual transmission truck. The ignition switch assembly is in the dash board and the thieves totally destroyed the entire ignition switch/steering lock assembly in the process of stealing it.

Any suggestions for a replacement lock assembly source. She says that the local Toyota dealer was unable to source one.

Switch should have been on the steering column.

I'll see if I can get the pic she showed me posted here.
Pics would really help. If it's just the key cylinder it should be available from Toyota, and relatively easy to repair, depending on the damage. It they fubared the column then you are looking at boneyard.

The 93 pickup does not have the lock cylinder on the column it is on the dash to the right of the column. Look on eBay you can get the lock cylinders all day anywhere from $50-$100.

OK,...here are the pics of her dash and the damaged lock cylinder housing and missing lock cylinder

Picture helps. Hopefully it's still available. Also, from the pictures I pulled up that looks like a 4Runner dash, not a truck.

I spent some time at the Toyota dealer yesterday,....Looks like about $450 for the replacement steering column lock crossbar that connects the steering column to the lock cylinder in the dashboard as shown in my pics and the linked exploded view provided by Gnob.

Wondering if anyone can suggest an alternative at a more reasonable price,...…..AND wondering if someone can give me an idea of what would be involved in replacing the entire assembly

Boneyard. Don't know what they would charge for that part, but my local upull charges around $40 for a steering column.

Wrecker as mentioned.
You will have to at least drop the steering wheel end of the column to gain clearance to replace the part. It bolts on with a couple bolts.
