Keep the truck intake. It will make more power at lower RPM and you won’t have to mess with your accessory drive to accommodate the throttle body being 4” lower. I went down that road and it was a complete waste of time. Just get the nice engine cover from a 2012-up truck and clip it on.

Im glad that crate motor comes with intake, rails and injectors, water pump, alt/pump bracket, thats the stuff that usually nickel and dimes you to death.

Looks like this motor will come with the DBW type throttle body. I am probably going to switch to DBC for simplicity and less cost. Is it just a matter of finding a used DBC throttle body at the junk yard? According to Holley they said the Terminator X kit for DBW is about $300 more plus you have to have some special gas pedal.

There isn't a OEM 4 bolt cable throttle. There are tons of the same aftermarket billet cable throttle for your later 4-bolt intake for <$100. They're nice. I've used them a bunch.

Yeah, you would need the X MAX to do DBW. If you're not running a 4l80 (you're not) you can use the regular X and save the money.

$50 billet throttle and $18 bracket solution.

Updates.....The new 6.0L - LC8 (L96) crate motor arrived early

The LC8 is identical to the L96 motor with the exception of the LC8 having hardened exhaust valves and valve seats for improved wear resistance and durability with gaseous fuel systems. The LC8 can run 87 pump gas, CNG, or LPG. I did NOT buy it because of the alternative fuel options but for the price, availability, and factory warranty which I believe is 24 months/50,000 miles.

I purchased from Michigan Motorz (Roger) and he has been absolutely wonderful to work with. If you call him please let him know that I sent you.

They have it wrapped pretty good and I will not need to unwrap for a couple months so these are the best pics I have at the moment.

Found a local place that will sandblast the tub for $450. They've been in business for 46 years and apparently do auto bodies frequently without issues. Should be delivering the tub to them early next week. Stay tuned for before/after pics of course.

Well, big step today. Brought the Cali tub in for blasting. Will be done this afternoon so stay tuned for the "after" pics. Been waiting 3 years for this day! Here are the transport and drop off "before" pics.

And.............here it is. WTF is with all the brazing? Was that supposed to be easier than welding back in the day? Clearly the PO could not do either one. I think new rear quarters are in order and maybe the rear sill. Depends what @miller thinks as he kindly offered to do the skilled sheet metal replacement.

Overall, that thing looks great. Brazing is awesome. Brass doesn't rust. Other than the rear sill, it doesn't look like it needs much replaced. Just a bunch of hammer and dolly planishing.

Actually the quarters are going and the rear sill is probably staying. Less work to replace those quarters than trying to fix them I think.
