So I called the ford house today, and they told me the f250 shock towers are no longer available. I haven't looked in any of the u-pull its, but I'm sure they must be ready available, just hoping to get new ons as they weren't that expensive.

Anyway, with a SO, is going back with the stock towers a big disadvantage. I still have the stock towers, and I could just bolt them back on, else, I guess I'll have to find some used ones.

Thanks.

Just received 2 yesterday...... part# E5TZ-18183-A.....

still a stocking item at my dealer

I am pretty sure that by US federal law, all manufacturers of mass produced road vehicles must stock parts for that vehicle for 20 years.

I need to get some. I need them freighted to australia can someone point me in the right direction

you should be able to find some online and get them freighted.. I know bad_religion_au did that and they ended up pretty affordable.. just don't be in a hurry to receive them i guess..

im still sprung under but happy with the added travel they give you.

Not to hijack the thread but, IF you do go with the Ford towers do you have to buy different shocks being they allow for more travel?

I love my Ford F250 shock towers!!!!

I just got some 2 weeks ago-took overnight at the local Ford dealer. Funny-the parts dude there saw me pull up in my FJ60-"nice Cruiser". It turns out he is a Land Cruiser guy, owned a 60 and a 62, and was commuting from the Bay Area in his FJ62. Said the gas was killing him and he might have to sell. Small world.

Bottom line--Ford towers are widely available, though there is a rumor they will be discontinued.

I used this part #E5TZ-18183-A

I agree with "grant5127's" Ford part number, we use them all day long. When I look at the photos of "fj40er's" rig, it just screems "please weld on a triangular back gusset between back side of shock tower and top of frame"!!!!!

so do the ford F-250 shock towers just bolt right up in to the same bolt hole as stock?? and if so do you have to buy a longer shock. if it wall works that sweet.

no because your towers arent bolted on. they are riveted, but yes the same location is just dandy

it would be in your best interest to buy longer shocks. if you dont whats the point of putting on longer towers?

I used to hear that... but I have tried to buy parts for 4 year old dodge trucks and the parts were not available. discontinued. Officially... not just 200 people waiting and none in the system like some other dodge parts I needed.

I have to agree and disagree with this...

Those towers appear to be bolted on... and only to the outer face of the frame
under hard us I would be concerned that the frame might pucker at the mounting holes.

but... if you weld it on, which is how I have mounted more of these than I can remember right now... full length all the way around the perimeter of the contact between the frame and the mount... that will be absolutely strong enough... the shape of the tower is it's own gusset... it was designed to work under a much heavier rig than a '40... and has done so just fine for Ford. and we have had zero failures under '40s... and I have heard of zero failures from others.

Welding a gusset to a bolted on piece would seem silly to me too... just weld the tower itself on. that is the best way to mount it... and no gusset is needed on that tower

Ok. ford house ordered that part for me today...$15 each. He said that came off a 88 - 89ish model truck and I was thinking it was a mid 90's model 250. Anyway, I got a set of the ETZ-18183-A towers on the way.

Thanks... and I think I will take Mark's advice and weld them on.
