1995 80 For Sale
My mechanic just called and said he has a customer with a 1995 80 TLC with a blown engine (blown due to overheating on a trip to Florida). He said it will need a new engine, but that the owners have had it and have even taken it by a scrap yard. Apparently, this one has some new parts. May be a good deal in the making (if you have a spare engine).
So, if interested, call Laurel at Mostly Toyotas. 828-253-4981. No affiliation with this. Will post pics if I get a chance to go by.

Update. The junk yard offered them $300. Mechanic says drivable, but knocks like crazy, will need to replace engine. New power steering pump and radiator. Lots of interior work to be done too.

I have an opportunity to buy a BJ 42 (I believe) from Japan. Diesel with less than 3000 KM. What would be the value of this vehicle. He indicated he wanted $15,000.00
The biggest thing you need to look at is replacement parts availability. While it would be seriuosly sweet to own, I am not sure I would want to pay serious $$ for a rig that I won't be able to get parts for in another year or two. Might be worth a call to Beno over at LOWE Toyota just to see what is still available for that rig,
