Gone!

Thanks!

I NEED an fj-40. Seriously. Now. Please :)

Hello,

I absolutely have no luck finding a cruiser. All I want is a good driver. I don't care what year. Here is what I need:

1) RELIABLE. Most important.
2) I don't care if it's a V8 or original F engine
3) MUST be SAFE (at least front discs, tight suspension, etc.)
4) Hardtop
5) A daily driver. I will be using this as my winter vehicle in MN and I need to have a reliable driver for the winter.
6) Must be relatively close to Minnesota.

BUDGET: Under $2,000. Or, if you want/need a daily driver, I will trade a 95 Chrysler LHS plus some cash.

PLEASE contact me at mizzoumurad@yahoo.com with your FJ-40's.

Thanks everyone

Murad

Let me know if you find more then one.. I'll take 20 of them for that price.. Not saying you can't do it with time on your side but I base cruiser prices on how long it'll take to find one for that. You're looking at a 6 month project just to find what you want at the price you wanna pay...

If anyone has detailed questions, I'll be glad to answer.

Thanks

Andrew

I'd say no way....a reliable 76+ for less than 2K? Let me pick up a ferrari for 10K.....

yes, good luck. I am really sorry to burst your bubble, but you may need to consider this:

You can borrow up to 4650 for a 76 or newer cruiser (based on 80% of NADA) this is a rule of thumb at most credit unions for old cars.

Take your 2K and put towards it, and then look for one around the 5K mark. You WILL find one at that price - however you may need to get a drum brake (i.e. pre 10/75) to further increase your chances of a nice daily driver.

Good luck my friend....

I gotta brag!! I found a '77 for my wife right next door. Paid $1000.00 for it!! Guy didn't know what he had, I guess. Not a cruiserhead. Anyway, bypassed the igniter. She drives it all the time. It can be done. But, I was also lucky. Matt

Yeah, I know i'm a little on the unreasonable side, but here is my thinking:

1) I just want to get into a cruiser now. Money is tight for one more year till i'm done with law school.

2) After/if I pick one up cheap, I will return the favor and let it go cheap to another aspiring fj-40 owner after I graduate.

3) Then, I can get the cruiser that i really want :)

It's worth a shot....

If you want a reliable DD for winter, why a 40?? Why not a 60? Cheaper, improved heating system, more stable on slippery roads. I drove a 40 for many winters when I lived in Michigan and they are not the best choice. I had to drive around with an ice scraper in the passanger seat to scrape ice from the INSIDE of the windows, the heaters are not that efficient compared to a 60. Plus if you're looking to only spend $2000 you are only going to find 40's with so many rot holes your heater won't do a bit of good... I can understand why you want an FJ40. They are outstanding trucks and unlike anything else on the road, but as a DD - in Minnesota, for under 2K... not realistic.

don't think you will find it...try looking for a 60 instead. more of a possibility you would find a decent 60 for that price....although it might be a rust bucket if its a MN rig.

Go on to Craigslist. There is a good reliable one in Tucsan , AZ I almost bought it . It is really reliable no hardtop just softop and they want like 6500 for it. Thats about what you ll be paying. But it has been for sale for at least 5 months. He will prbably be able to negotiate.
