Ordering

Received product from Whole Hog quickly and only took a few minutes to install. Fit and function were perfect, installed the Pioneer sub, sounds great for what this old man listens to.

Great product and response time, Thanks to WHT:cheers:

Is there a mud price for the Whole Hog Tech sub woofer mount or is it going for the listed price of $149 that's on the website?

I've got a sound ordnance all-in-one sub and amp that I put under my driver's seat (see attached photo) but I dream of having one of these in the stock location!

Any more feedback on this (sound, rattles etc.)? Do we have a mud price?

I just installed this bracket. Here's my pros and cons for what it's worth:

Pros:

1) Fast shipping

2) Really nice bracket, mates right up with zero issues. Looks stock other than the hog cutout, which is pretty cool, IMO.

3) Does the job exactly as explained here in this thread.

Cons:

1) Whole Hog has a downloadable .pdf that explicitly states this accomodates certain 10" speakers and has a big YES! in the "Fits?" column. I ordered a 10" Pioneer going off this. Needless to say, it didn't fit and now I have to pay to ship it back to return it. They really need to update that .pdf. I emailed them to ask about this once I noticed the discrepancy and got an email back basically saying "Yeah, we know it's wrong." Nothing said about plans to fix it for future purchasers.

2) Rattled like a beeyotch. I've got folded cardboard shoved back there right now as a very temporary measure until I find a more elegant solution. Others have used wood boards and fill material that takes up a lot of that space. I want as clean and finished look as possible.

Overall, I'm really glad they offer it. It saved me from having a pain in the ass speaker box taking up room in the cargo area, so for that alone I'm giving them a lot of leeway with the misinformation in their .pdf and apparent lack of concern to fix the errors.

Final Verdict: 8/10. Would buy again.

I'll be posting up some pictures of the final set up after I decide how to address the rattling issue.

I've got one of those in the garage collecting dust if someone wants one. Never installed.

Does anyone have an elegant solution for the rattling I expect once I get this Whole Hog mount installed?

I'd be really interested also if anyone has tried to make this into a real enclosure...

I thought and thought about these same issues until my brain hurt.
Maybe back-up the plastic panel with a sheet of wood to offer some compression to the woofer bracket?

I figured that for a no-compromise, true subwoofer, only a stand-alone enclosure will do the job. There just isn't enough space in that cavity to fit a box big enough for any real, deep bass.

The amp bracket looks like a good idea though.

Emails...

hmm sent 2 emails now.....no response. Anyone home at the hog?

It sometimes is a drag to be on the bleeding edge of technology. If you don't get a reply from me, shoot me a note directly.

Mount Order Page

Mudders,

Somewhere in this thread is an old link to my now dead order form on this mount. I've just read through it twice and can't find where the heck it is... guess it's getting late in the week.

We've got a new order form running now on our site path here http://www.wholehogtech.com/FJ80_products.html.

If you get some sort of order error, call me directly and we can get it resolved.

Thanks to all who have posted regarding this mount! We've got some other cool stuff coming out shortly that will be good for us 80 folks! Anybody interested in beta-testing? Give me a shout if so.

Any word on that inverter project?
That's next up on my to-do list, and I love your sub mount so much I could go with another of your products.... What's the latest??

I have some prototypes coming for the inverter plate. Stay tuned. I expect to have the first run released early March or so…

FWIW the most efficient use if space would be to make a mounting plate that takes up the entire rest of that storage space that goes as far back as possible, without touching, and as high possible and as low as possible while hugging the wheel arch and giving platforms for mounting. I am sure there are many that would eliminate that useless storage cubby just to get useable space out of it. Or if they keep the cubby then it just means they don't use that section of the mount. This has been one of the projects I've been working on and if you are working on anything close to that then I'll stop right now and get your setup. I have your other mount and I'm really impressed and happy with it.

Did I miss the final answer to a mount for 10" sub?

Are there any more people who have experience installing this mount, which speaker they used, etc?
