Sweet.. Thanks for the reply and yes more pics would be awesome......!!

Im at a cross roads right now.. I know I want to go higher but def want to get a better ride also... this has been on the back of my head for a long while now and I think is time to put the idea to work....
Guess I'll have to source parts out and then take the plunge....
I'll post if and when I decide to do this...

Aaron thanks for posting all these info for others to see and either drool and/or dream....l

Laters,

Couple pics showing how I modified my 4x4 Labs rear bumper. I bought it in kit form and cut/welded to fit my needs. I really gained a lot of extra clearance on both sides with the cuts I made. You can see the quarter protection I made. I wanted them to match my rocker sliders. Also, see the pivot tow points I added. I like that they pivot and how the edge of the bumper is nice and smooth now. ......

More. Heres the rear area light we use for camping and such. Its mounted on a extendable pole so we can lift/lower it and point it in any direction......

I don't think I ever posted any pics of our rear drawers. Pretty simple, but oh so useful. Two drawers one long and narrow, one short and wide. In front of the short drawer is where I keep all my tools, spares. Everything else is for gear. Both drawer also have top access.

What an amazing build! I bet it rides like a dream now. Makes me soooo miss my Big Blue Box....

FWIW, I much prefer the alloy look of the wheels with the blue. Dunno why though cause I run black wheels on everything I've ever had--even had black steelies on my blue 60 til i added the alloy 80 wheels. But for some reason the alloy looks amazing with the blue to me.

Plans to hit Cruise Moab any time soon?--I'd love to see this truck in person.

Again, very nice job!

P.S. Please please please let this 60 never end up parted out or all cut up and on 55s... ;(

I know what you mean.... I really like black wheels, even on my 60, but there's just something that looks right with the factory alloys. I really don't know what I prefer. Most likely I'll leave them black till I get new tires, then give it another thought then.
I'm trying to get a couple guys to come out to Cruise Moab with me. Ive wanted to make it for years now but it just never works out, hoping this year it will!:bounce:

So how much would you charge me to make a bumper EXACTLY like that?

Haha, just saw this.
This bumper wont fit most trucks. I cut quite a bit off the front valence and tucked it close to what remains so it would never fit a stock truck.
Actually, I'd love to get into custom fab work for cruisers, but have never really thought it could be profitable. Who knows, maybe one day.
If you lived closer I'd be more than happy to help you build one for you truck......

OK, time for a tech question.
I have yet to wire up the elockers. I still have the donor 80 so I have all the factory wiring. Id like to tackle this job in the next few days or so since I have some time off.
My question is this; How would you go about wiring them up. It seems like it will be a pain the figure out the factory computer and locked/locking lights, although I haven't looked it in in depth. Maybe it's not that hard? Plus, as far as I'm concerned, I already have too many electronic thingies on this truck. (I really don't have very many).
What about some kind of cable system?:hhmm: Is that something I could rig myself? Or is anyone making a cable kit? Cheap and simple are my thoughts right now.

Maybe I should post this over in the 80 section?:meh:

Thanks for the links.
After looking more in depth, I think Ill use the factory ecu. Now the question is; do I painstakingly remove the the entire harness for the truck and separate the locker part, OR, just cut cut the at the ecu leaving enough to make my own harness. I have the harness that comes off the lockers but it seems that after the locker ecu the wires tie into the main harness. Does that make any sense?

 That was quite a while ago. I would have loved to have one but I bought a SROR bumper this summer. Its still sweet!

There is a reversing motor and a set of limit switches, right?
What is a logic circuit needed for, the OE's 35 mph auto-disengage and what else?

Mike worked out the single axle motor control using two relays and momentary SPDT switch. Would you want the diffs inter-related? I deliberately ordered the ARB's w/o the ARB harness because I did not want one dependent on the other.

Good choice. Don't worry about getting the whole harness. Just cut at the ECU and splice in 6-wire (combine the two grounds) trailer wiring to each diff and splice them to the factory diff harnesses. I've done this for the rear locker I added to my 4Runner and I've worked with the 80 diffs as well and it's not too difficult of a job when you've got the ECU and when someone's already figured out all the wiring and made up a schematic for ya.

And for fun, my old 60 a few months before parting her out and a few years earlier right after the SOA. Again, I love the black steelies, but I like the alloy 80s wheels much better.
