No, hi and low are separate. I've got the hi's on order.

That's the advantage I see from the other unit posted above from Amazon .. that way you can have more " light " if you wire the 4 units ( as I did ) to work together always ( hi / low on your demand )

Happy to inform that I've been using this ..

for a few weeks now and I'm very please with the outcome so far ..

I have Trucklites in my FJ62 and JW Speakers in my HJ61.

Both of them are a massive improvement over the standard sealed beams.

I’d give the Trucklites a B. They have a little bit of cut off in the pattern as compared to the JW Speakers.

The JW Speakers are an A+. They are in a class by themselves in terms of light output, consistency of field of view and increased vision in both low and high beam.

Both of these set of headlights were expensive, but I believe they make a massive advantage in safety during nighttime and inclement weather driving. That’s what sold me on them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the JW Speaker H4s low beam only?

Nope. They have separate high and low beam lamps.

EDIT: I have 8800 evolution 2, non heated lamps, which are separate low and high beam.

Looks like you can now buy them direct from the JW Speaker website.

There is a new (to me) model 8820, which is a heavy duty/industrial/military 4x6" lamp which has low and high beams together. I don't know if this is compatible with our cruisers.

JW Speakers. These are insanely bright on OEM wiring. No anti-flickering harness required. If they are flickering, you may have the wiring backwards.

There is a heating element in the lens so they do not frost over.

Tks. are the 4 lights ON when high beams are ON?

Stock wiring looks to be an "add on high beam" system which means all 4 should be on in "High" beam mode. So I would say yes with stock wiring. Even if it wasn't that way it could be wired that way of course.

Seriously guys...are we talking about $1K for headlights? YGBSM

To each their own. To some people this kind of light output is more important than a $1500 bumper. I'd rather be able to see the deer and avoid it than get blood and hair all over my new ARB.

Agreed on the principle. I thought the Hella FJ62-custom harness bypass/upgrade and H4/H1 upgrade was pricey at half that...with likely a more holistic electrical improvement and at least equal the lighting performance. I think there is also an appearance factor that some may prefer with regards to headlights like the JW Speakers 8800s. They look cool even in the daylight hours.

I drive my 60 series trucks as daily drivers with my three little kids in them.

Driving a 5000 pound cube with no airbags and relatively poor brakes compared to modern vehicles, I need every advantage I can get. And I’m willing to shell out a considerable amount of money for the ability to see and be seen.

You bet. As a dad whose kids are grown and gone (in their mid-20s) who came home from their birth in our 62 and were transported in it for most of their lives, I understand the motivation.

I can tell you from the wisdom of life experience and business, applying a "value curve" analysis to everything is wise. The vertical axis denotes verifiable/perceivable benefit, and the horizontal axis is cost. At first there is a linear rise on the graph; benefit matches the rise in cost. You're getting what you pay for. At some point with almost everything, the line starts to curve. Verifiable/perceivable benefit begins to diminish but cost continues to increase. Eventually the line almost flattens to horizontal...meaning you can spend as much as you want and not gain any appreciable improvement to benefit. Value is found somewhere along that curve portion of the graph. Headlights (and how they operate in the vehicle electrical system) are no different. What is different and an incalculable variable is subjective peace of mind. That can trump the value curve on the decision process.

Just sayin'...kids and life are pricey. Been there, done that, and pretty much survived. Every little bit helps...but you're right that you don't compromise safety.

FWIW :)

Indeed, for the owner of the JW Speakers...and any other make or model of headlights of similar performance...at any price whether costing more...or less.

I'm just astounded that headlight prices that high exist, not that folks would be compelled to buy them. That's their business. I just didn't see prices like that coming for headlights!

Right, I know there are separate lamps for high and low, but the lows are low only and not low/high like typical H4 headlamps, right?

Edit: Oh wait, now I see what you were saying. Yeah I'd like to have low/high in the outboards like stock, so the 8820s might be worth looking into.
