Theoretically, a right hand drive configuration would use two right hand arms? Anyone tried this?

Here's the result of my experiment with upgraded wipers for RHD vehicles:

I used wiper arms from an 80 series as I couldn't seem to work out the equivalent RHD part numbers for the 4runner arms that are usually mentioned in these threads.

In terms of fit, they work great. Protrude slightly further from the bonnet than the original 60 arms, but work with the factory mounting bolt and cowl (you need a new nut and end cap to match the arms).

With the original wiper blades re-installed, they get much better coverage of the windscreen

The only issue I can see is if you want to install longer blades. I also ordered some 450mm Toyota blades and with the new arms and blades combined, they made contact with the windscreen seal at the top of the sweep.

The motor also struggled a little bit with the new arms + blades, which might be due to a fresh tight spring, or might be because they're angled ever so slightly closer to the windscreen.

Am yet to decide if I'll stick with the new arms and use the slightly shorter blades, keep the old arms and use longer blades, or try to track down a set of RHD arms that work better. Probably going to run it for a while with one side in each configuration and see which one I like best.

Thanks for the follow up. I may try and just run the longer blades on the stock setup for now and see how that goes. My main complaint is that the driver side blade chatters, even with a brand new blade and fully soaked windshield.

This is the driver side arm, but I think if you used the slightly shorter passenger side arm (85221-60040) on both sides it should fit perfectly with the 450mm blades
