FJ60 replacement power steering pump

Both the ID of the new bushing and the OD of the pump shaft are just over 22mm.

I am thinking about maybe getting a little hone for brake caliper bores and seeing if I can oh-so-slighty enlarge the ID of my bushing.

Sadly, my idea for replacement bushing is not quite a drop in solution.

I did not get a chance to study the bushing in the back of the pump for wear, or how easy it would be to get out...

My old pump is in pieces in my scrap metal bin. I couldn't get the springs and shoes back together and got tired of messing with it. If the pieces are helpful to someone you can have them if you wan to pay the shipping. I think the pumps problem was the front seal. All the internals look good with no bluing.

Very cool offer! Maybe you should send to @luk3mik0 so he could see if he can machine up a replacement bushing?

How close is it to fitting in the new bushing ? You could use a hand hone to fit to size .

I am thinking one of these guys would give an even removal, just have to know when to stop, eh?

SOR website says: "Specter does not offer rebuilt power steering pumps. The original Toyota front pump body does not have a replaceable bushing in it. To rebuild the pump correctly, the housing needs to be machined for a bushing and the bushing needs to be honed to match the pump shaft. "

I think you're on the right track hand fitting the bushing.

Thanks. One other option might be to find a wrist pin bushing that will match the pump housing and shaft. If need be the housing could be opened up a little. I would rather not mess with the shaft at all. My friend who was helping me said there has to be a wrist pin out there that would fit ID & OD. Adjust length to match.

I'll pick up a brake caliper hone and try it out. The bummer is my 40 (w/ 60 series PS) is out of action being painted. I will not be able to try this pump rebuild for a while...

Well keep us posted, once I get my harmonic balancer taken care of i'm moving onto the pump. If we find a bushing to as close as we can get to original i'm sure we can figure the rest out.

Well it sounds like we can get a scrap pump from @hobgoodj - or I can send you the bushing I pressed out my front part of the housing. I have not gotten the rear bushing out, and not sure how much I feel like fussing with the rear...

Okay , I would like to purchase a used pump if anyone has one at a reasonable price. I would rather have the entire pump then just a bushing.

Just ordered my OEM ps pump for $374 . Mine has been leaking for near a decade. Smog pump , motor mount have been casualties to this not to mention the untold pints of Hydraulic oil.

Mine is in pieces. I can not guarantee all the springs are there. If you want to pay the shipping it is yours. I am in Orlando.

This is the way I went . Have a intact leaker up for grabs.

New pump is in and working well! I think the p/s gearbox has developed a leak. These 300000 mile rigs just keep on giving!
