Talked to Jason and I’m going to buy em! I appreciate all the info Dan has shared to help with this.

Here’s way I’m looking it. It’s about time I stray from the nice highway and around town pig. Not that I intend on anything like Dans doing which I’m totally envious about. Wife and I bought an RV few months ago to live in while building our new house. I picture building an off road Capable pig I can trailer behind the RV and go see some cool back country in the future, basically set up base camp and go!

This does open a can of worms as @Pigeaten has experienced with overly heavy rig and his changing power plant choices. Figure I’ve got some time to think this through.

Not sure what I’m going to do with the 3” heavy lift. Both my current pigs have new Alcan’s under them and I’m not ready to change that nor do I think I will.

Now i just have to have wife get the shipping addressed which is her expertise. But first I’ve got to tell her what I’ve done.

If anyone needs some crusty 40 series axles for disc swap I’ve got some for sale!

Damn, I have to re weigh mine. With all the camping gear, food, etc. ready to roll, mine is @ 8,000 lbs.
1,400 lbs. of paper maps?

Wow that thing is nice!. More pics please. Saw a parking brake on the shaft. Sprung over on the rear?

It is spring over in the rear with airbags. But we are looking at the Timbren SES instead of bags as it would reduce maintenance & moving parts.

Overland Cruisers in Bozeman did all the drivetrain work. It has a Cummins R2.8/H55f/split case. The ECU has been tuned/remapped. It has a pre-filter fuel filter for the crappy diesel we will undoubtedly find. Overland Cruisers has their own adapter that pairs with the OEM bell housing and keep the shifter in the original position. It can cruise down the highway at 70-75mph and gets 20+ mpg when travel speeds are around 60-65mph. This setup should be ideal, as the last time I drove around the world (2006-2008,) I averaged 38mph.

The interior and Redarc ancillary power system is still being assembled. Once complete, I will put together a list of components and parts, but in the meantime, please feel free to reach out with any questions.

Thanks!

So this is strange… in a fun way

I think I saw your truck at Well Sorted in Feb 2022.

And I’ve bought those built 60 series axles from @greenbeast. I hope to pick them up from TRD on my way back from SAS in 11-12 days.

I’m going to have Johnny @Cruisers and Co install them in my FJ55 (along with a few other upgrades), and I believe he did some of the work on the coil setup on your truck at Overland.

That is awesome. I'm glad the axels will be put to good use and I'm also glad that you connected with Johnny. He does excellent work and I'm sure you'll be happy with the results.

Thanks for your messages and interest.

I forgot to mention that these axles have no miles on them. They were installed and removed before the powertrain was put together. So....they've just rolled a few feet while under the rig.

I'll reach out to Doug regarding the parking brake.

Here is the text regarding the discs: "The front and rear are FJ60 axles. The front has IFS hubs to pull the wheels in a bit and we did the Tundra disc brake upgrade on it, obviously you've seen the rear has a disc brake conversion.. The front axle has RCV Chromoly shafts in it, the rear has stock axle shafts. Both have ARB air lockers and 3.70 gearsets.”

I went with a coilover arrangement in the front and airbags and softer springs in the back. Please see pics.

Thanks gentlemen!

I am wondering more about these...
Are they narrowed? Or full 60 width?
Tundra upgrade was for the front axle, eh?
I am still wondering what the rear brake set up consists of? Bracket/calipers/rotors, and park brake?

That looks like a great setup. You've come to the right place to advertise.

I looked at your website. Choosing Homer as your Alaska destination rather than Prudhoe Bay/Deadhorse is a smart move.
What the heck?!?

Dad is in Homer.

Small world...
