I really want to do this on my RHD HJ60. I just need the wifes approval to bid on a certain set on EBAY and then I am in. These seats really seem to be the ticket considering how good BMW is at making a drivers car.
These brackets look very nice. Much simpler than the set I fabbed up for my Mazda seats too. I'd love to demo a set for you guys, but I honestly love the feel of my Mazda seats more than the ones of BMWs I've driven. Only trade-off is no seat heaters or leather for me.
My dad just moved to Mukilteo from Mill Creek. I'll have to ask if he can shuttle parts over to me (when I get myself a new job and replenish our savings cushion) from you guys when he makes trips over to see his granddaughter
Here's a secondary question. When I get the new front seats I'll be getting the rear seats re-done so that they match (gotta keep the wifey happy). Would it be easy for an upholsterer to take the rear BMW seat and graft that onto the rear bench of the 60? would that enable them to install head rests for the kiddos?
You would have to order new leather for the rear seat. Any upholstery shop can handle that, but it's pretty big $$$ for that leather, and for custom work. Grafting the rear seat is probably more work
The seat twist happened to my beloved (R.I.P.) 540i. It was an easy fix. You remove the cable from the motor that drives the side that doesn't move, cut the housing back about 1/4" and reinsert the cable into the drive motor. It is much like a speedo cable, but the inner part (the important part) can't quite seat into the drive motor because the sheath or housing is slightly too long. I pulled it out by hand, trimmed it back with a utility knife and shoved it back in.
I picked up a set of Mitsubishi Montero seats for my cruiser. They are slightly (approx. 1 inch) wider than the OEM seats. I had taken my passenger seat out to test fit on some trial brackets. These BMW brackets seem similar to what i was attempting to fabricate. Would like to obtain a set for trial fitment.
Received the brackets on Tuesday, put them in today and I must say that 1. They obviously work with RHD and 2. The brackets fit perfectly and mount the seats as low as possible . Really nice brackets.
Would you know the going rate for a set of 3 series seats in Perth, I'll be down at Christmas and might give this some serious thought if the price is right, I have original turbo embossed seats
