The only reason I mentioned pulling the intake, was that it could have a set of mediocre heads ported to flow like a set of high dollar heads, althoug you may be able to see some porting on the exhaust side and assume the intake side was done as well. :)

For a VSS I am using a rostra speed control sensor with a magnetic pickup, $23 from summit. There are a few guys successfully using them over on the Binder Bulletin forum for TBI. you can get away without one but thew system runs better with it. I installed mine the other night but haven't got it working yet.

couple more pics..., the 205 going together.
I just had my FJ55 with a homemade springover lift fixed by CADfabricating.com in Boise, Idaho he specializes in high steer systems and fixed my lift and put in and F-250 power steering box in for me for $900 very good job. I'll post some pictures as soon as I get it back in a couple days.

They want close to $500 for that knuckle and it only puts the drag link above the springs.... I'm going to look into making something similar to dana 44 arms.

tclndcrz, heres a pic of it on the side of a volcano at close to 12,000':

WTF? you went to MARS?

No worries on the thread jack. Pull the pan and you should be able to see a brand casting on the crank as well as rods. For the original build price it should have full roller rockers also. I'll PM you my contact info if you want to call me if you decide to pull the pan.

A few pics of the progress. The exhaust is full mandrel bends.

I've been working on the tuning, but it seems like I'm always chasing something else. I went for a run this evening and after 5 minutes the laptop battery dies and wouldn't charge from the inverter. Then It sprung a big oil leak from the mechanical guage connection at the block. Then I got it on the freeway and it wouldn't get out of second gear. After checking all the linkages and scratching my head, I realized the 205 was in low. Its been so long since I've driven it I forgot what 4low felt like!

I've tuned the idle to be very steady, you have to listen real close to tell there is a cam installed. The low midrange is pretty well tuned, but I need to log some more runs with varied throttle to get the tune down better, then I need to learn all of the fine points of a tuning with TBI. So far the EBL is pretty cool and learn pretty quickly with a wideband installed.

The engine definately feels more powerful than stock, I've got my fingers crossed that I'll be satisfied with the HP. My chipped Duramax has me spoiled!

Thanks for the comment on the exhaust. I could have gone with a stainless magnaflow y-pipe for another $30 but I wanted something a little more compact. I could have made it even tighter and should have but I didn't think there would be enough room to weld. I have about 8 hours into the system but it was totally worth it.

The best part of doing your own exhaust is that you know exactly what needs to be accessed so you can route it perfectly. This exhuast is 10x better than the one I had professionally done.

Yeah, I left the exhaust to my local exhaust "experts" the first time around and now my driveline and self clearanced itself into the down pipe on the exhaust. Freakin morons.

I think the stock 60 box is pretty good & maybe as good as the saginaw boxes. the stock 60 pumps are total junk in my opinion. I still have the stock box but have a saginaw pump off of TBI 350. My steering is 10X better than stock. I suggest getting rid of the stock pump (if you still have it) and getting a saginaw pump. They can also be easily boosted to support hydrosteer with the 60 box if you need more assist.

my hydrosteer with the ported 60 box and the saginaw pump (drilled out restrictor) works freakin great. I have ZERO problems moving my 39.5s from lock to lock at a dead stop locked up (not that I do this as a common practice).

Someday, I'll hydro assist my truck, maybe when I get the ball joint hysteer figured out. I've been totally happy with the saginaw steering.

I did an hour tune session this evening. The VE and spark tables are getting close. At about 3200rpm's the engine REALLY starts to pull I only got it 4k and it was screaming. Unfortunately I have a big oil leak from the rear of the intake and a small leak at the timing cover / balancer. Looks like I'll be pulling the balancer and intake this weekend. This engine is going to be a beast!

Zach, I love your avatar, thats one of my favorite comedy's. Since I first met my wife I've been singing her the "thermos" song.

not an ordinary thermos for you...
but the extra best thermos you can buy
with vinyl and stripes and a cup built right in...

I'm picking out a thermos for you
and maybe a barometer too
and what else can I buy so on me you'll rely....

Wait for it... wait for it...

a rear end thermometer toooooooo!

"He hates these cans. Stay away from the cans."

Also one of my favorite all time movies....

Good to hear that the tune is coming together. Sorry to hear about the leaks!
