EGR helps with economy, emissions and pinging at cruise, but thats about it.
Many early heads do not have egr ports. also, with no EGR you can run a nice single plane manifold, Weiand Xcellorator or Edelbrock RPM.
I found the main oil leak & I think its bad news. I have oil coming up the internal shaft of the distrubutor (Aftermarket Ebay billet unit), so I changed it out with the stock unit.
I haven't pulled the cap to see if the leak is still there since I have another bigger problem. At RPM's above 4k I get blue smoke from the tail pipe & around 4500+ it starts to billow. I'm hoping that the rockers are shooting oil into the PCV valve, but I haven't disconnected it yet to test. I have a feeling I'm having a ring problem , giving me high crankcase pressure, causing the leaks I'm getting.
My next step is to disconnect the PCV & if that does not fix it I'll pull the plugs, read them and do a compression test (was 150psi across the board before). hopefully this will give me an idea of whats going on. Worst case scenario is pulling the engine & re-ring it. Hopefully it something simple.
Now that I've got the tune pretty good, when I really get into the throttle at 4k+ it pulls really hard, no comparisson to the stock 350. It definately feels like its going to be a 350HP+ engine and has tons of low end torque.
