Thanks scrapdaddy! I will be tearing into the sheet metal on the roof shortly, any build threads you guys can recall that have dealt with this issue?

Yatranorth,

Frank looks right at home, in front of your log house. I'm heading North, just as soon as I finish mine.

I bought this very-not-stock 55 a few months ago. The owner that did all work passed away so I don't know all the details. It has a Chevy 350, and 700R4, B&M shifter, NP205 transfer case. 4.11s Dana 44 rear w/ Detroit locker(stock front). Sag pump with Astrovan power steering, 4x4labs frombe hi-steer. Disc brakes all round and an unknown lift with soa in rear. 35 inch Cooper STT with black steelies. It has a doomsday flat black paint job tho I want a linex or a schmexy satin black paint job someday.

I have been a fj60 fan for so long but when I first saw a 55 I knew I had to have one. I love this beast and I get a lot of looks (not ever from women) and no-one has these in my area.

Welcome,

Nice wagon, when you get some time, everybody would like to hear about the 6.2 and how you like it.

Probably need to start a thread on it somewhere here but real quick answer:
It still uses a glow plug so that is a little bit of a pain, just have to get up a little earlier in the morning to wake her up.
I was told by the PO that it gets between 16-20 mpg, with a 64 gal tank I'm not sure when I'll be able to verify that. Here in Cali diesel will run $3.72 - $4.05 :bang: depends on where you buy it (found a place I can get it for $3.71  ).
Right now my biggest issues are the brakes. Looks like maybe a later model disc brake LC axle was swapped in. The master cylinder is a GM Hydroboost, not sure if that system needs to be scrapped or if I can rebuild it (not much $$$ to swap it all out right now though).

I know he is new here but he is a good friend of mine. Once he gets good tires this thing should be an off road machine but it needs a little work to make it a little more road friendly. Of all the Cruisers I have always been able to lock up the breaks if I wanted to, this one just looks at you as you are smashing the pedal and says "I will stop in my own time". So we have some research to do on the hydro boost system.
