Hello fellow piggers, I am in australia (south australia)and have just picked up a '79 fj55, it has a 2f 4 speed and is pretty much stock (running Gas and on 10.5 wide tires on wide 15 inch wheels) couple of small bits of rust coming through but is very minor. Have a few plans for it, and will keep this thread updated....cheers.

This guy was moving over to europe and desperately needed money, so I low offered him $3500 aus ($3200 ish usd) thinking there was no way he would take it (was prepared to pay $6000 aus haha) and he rang me back later that day and said it was mine (it has 140,000kms (86991miles) with books and all reciepts ha)... also got a spare REBUILT 4 speed and transfer case

You are very fortunate! That's a beautiful, well loved pig. Please keep us updated on your plans, would love to follow along. Enjoy it and take care of it. :)

Go buy a lotto ticket now!

That is the 2nd AUS Pig with the seatbelts mounted right on the B-pillars. I looked at a US Pig that has no threaded mount for seatbelts there.

Probably a late model change. This location would be MUCH more comfy. The older location has the belt "cutting" into your neck. We put pads on our seatbelts to improve the comfort level.

Score! Looks a bit like mine when I bought it - big roof rack, 15" Sunny's and 31" tyres. Must be an 80's Aussie thing....

Hi Aus55,

Are you on 4wd Action as well?? know that you are Sixty's guy. I am under "ohmyfj55" on 4wd Action.
Can't believe i've only just found this thread on ih8mud now!!! Been scanning for drum to disc conversion threads and seem to have hit the jackpot on here.

Just wanted to say hello lads. And g'day to any american readers of this post.

Regards,
Nathan

As far as I know the early pigs do not have the threaded insert for the belts, but there is a hole cut into the pillar there. I actually welded a plate and a matching nut to use the late model shoulder belts.

That is a nice Pig!!!

I love the amby doors in the rear.

I would be interested in seeing more.
I apologize if you covered this in your build thread. Do you have pics anywhere?

I am curious if you welded a plate to the outside of the B pillar, or if you cut the pillar open and inserted plate to weld?
