Just trying to help, but aluminum likes to be real clean when you weld it. Grind it or etch it. What are you using for shielding gas??
I’m using 100% argon gas.. you’re right it could be cleaner. Again it’s just an idea that this might work. I’m sure the gear that the motor drives is going to be the weak point. More of a proof of concept. The spool gun does make a building up material really easy. I’m stripping this bellview down now ( market place give away at $75.00) for the dual motor concept also

Interesting- using what I learned from the previous one. Should be able to make a cut for the gear to interact with the drive gear. The extra motor will require more support so I will try to make a curved flat plate to be more appealing to the eyes.

Have you thought about some kind of break on the 8000? I let mine go years ago mainly for the lack of that safety feature.
I have an idea using a brake assembly off of an atv. The lathe can make short work of that fab. Or a drum brake setup like the fj40 parking brake. Maybe electric or air assisted stopping. Let me put some big brain juice towards it. I’m slow right now, everything is fighting me….

Gear boxes will have a small brake off the back of the motor (let the gear reduction work for you) and are spring engaged and electrically disengaged when the motor is powered.

Something like this.

That’s awesome- let me look at prices.

I don't know if this link will work but you can buy them cheap..

Bellview mod is a lot cleaner. Natural progression, next one should be fabulous. For that that will ask. The original motor is only power in. So the other motor will power out by itself and then duals back in.

Who needs a spring and ball retainer anyway? Not me, that's who! Time to free the fork and grab that gear. Now, who's got an empty winch spot I can use for my experiment? #teamfloriduh #teamfloriduh
