These splashguards came in a box of parts with my 1979 FJ40. Can anyone tell me, or better yet send a picture of, precisely where they attach to the frame?
Thanks,
Ted

I've looked at that SOR diagram. This is like a jigsaw puzzle - even with that diagram, I can't seem to get these 2 panels to line up anywhere.
Thanks,
Ted

Splashguard on right is covered with undercoating which makes me think it goes under body somewhere, not under engine area.
Anyone have real pictures of where these go? I can't tell from SOR diagram where they fit.
Thanks,
Ted

Cam,

Don't you just love it, when a guy asks a question and you give him the correct answer and then he tells you that you are wrong.

Ted,

Cam gave you the correct answer. They are splash guards that go under the engine mounts. Numbers 145 and 146. I know because I have removed them before off of a friend's FJ40. The Specter diagram is a little hard to interpret. What you think is undercoating, may just be dried grease and dirt. But, it could be over-spray from when the fenders were undercoated.

they go in the garbage!!!

hit it on the head kevin;)

Undercoating would not have gotten sprayed on a heat shield for the catalytic converter because it would burn off due to the heat.

Good thing I didn't actually throw these out. Splashguard pictured on right covers fuel filler pipe in front of right rear tire. That's also why it was covered with undercoating.
