Thank you

Thanks for the kind words FT 40,,,this pic was taken back in 98 or so but it still looks the same except for the bezel is on correct and the hub caps are snapped in place also.

The bumper I had made at a welding shop after a guy backed into it while gassing up in Dallas one day. Did not hurt the car just bent the factory bumper tip. Good excuse to talk the wife into a new bumper and winch.

Best regards...

Found this pic in the newspaper so it's a good excuse to bump this epic thread up before it get lost.

Story is people need to commute to obtain fresh produces in the remote area from Waeapo to Namrole in Buru Island of Maluku, Indonesia. It's a 3 hours stretch covering 34 miles of muddy, steep cliff, and 5 feet depth river. So they built this thing called 'Grandong'.

It's based on FJ40, nothing fancy. Frames stretched to 200". Rows for people, rear bed for the goods. Disc brakes, 4wd, muddy tires. And off you go for rice and veggies. If you're sick and able to walk, it takes 12 hours walking to your nearest clinic in Waeapo. Talk about tough luck! Oh yes, sometimes you run out of luck and just die. :bang: These FJs literally keep them alive there. Long live the FJ!

WOW, crazy build! It probably does a great job! Wonder how much it weights when fully loaded! :steer:

sand dune

Probably pulled this out of a magazine in the mid 70's after I bought my first FJ40. It may have even have been a SOR or a Man-a-Fre . I just thought it was interesting at the time. Now 36 years later I still have this picture and also another FJ40.

Ahhh - the good old days. Winter 1987 in the mojave desert. I still have the truck; the girl, and her finer attributes are, sadly, long gone.....

Nice 40DD in your FJ40 or is it an FJ40DD :p, at least you still have the cruiser ;)

that would be really cool! mine has been ridden hard and put away wet by so many POs though I doubt I would ever recognize her. Not to mention when trying to sand down to metal I went through at least 3 colors.

Cant Believe I missed this though FTW!
