That's Paradise Cove, in Malibu ....

This is a great thread. I am restoring my 78 back to stock(ish) and these will be a great reference.

Great video! Funny, many of the heeps got bogged down in the sand and i didnt see one Cruiser have to back up and have a second try on the trails.

Never mind the fact that we didn't see one cruiser even attempt the more difficult sections in this video.

But we're not biased on this board are we?

Eshu you need to give us alil more background to that pic :) thats ....welll...just WOW :) very hard to find any split pics let alone a group acruisers with them :)

There's a group in Facebook that have many albums on all the land cruisers models, so i just share a few pics here, but no inf on the place of those split

Great thread. It makes this newbie want to keep my fj40 the way it was meant to be.

Haven't seen that style hardtop (the ribbing mostly, the windows look like add ons) before on the bottom picture Eshu posted, wheel wells indicate FJ25- pre '63 FJ40. That the FJ25 hardtop?

x2, that's a strange beast. Definitely looks like an early tub and hood. Turn signals and mirrors are from later model. Door handles look to be from some other vehicle altogether. Rear springs look too long to be stock. And that top is very strange...reminds me of a nissan patrol.

Is that a VW light mounted on the hood?

Was that single vent that opens beneath the windshield a standard feature?

Johnny C, Thanks for the link, I watched the other early videos too. There were some other cruisers in those. Nice to see all that stuff in its original form.

To everyone else who has posted pictures, Thanks. I love old stuff like this.

Magnum PI...former Navy Seal. Sweet!

Wow, the front of the hardtop looks different too in how it covers the windhield frame. That's seriously a really cool find Eshu, I have never seen that style hardtop before and the 25 bib and hood emblem make it even cooler. Wondering if it originally looked like the early 40 corrugated tops but with those rolled beads instead of corrugation.

That top is trully unique. It looks to be all steel with the way that rack is mounted to it. It also reminds me of the patrol top minus the rear rounded corners w/windows to boot.

This thread rocks!

My brand new 1979 FJ40.

I bought this FJ40 from Florin Road Toyota in Sacramento in November 1979. This picture was taken about 3 weeks later near Pinedale Wyoming where I was stationed in the Air Force. I still have the original bill of sale. I paid $7,987.

The interest rate on the loan was 15.66%. Back in the Carter days of high inflation.
