Then and now.

Both photos taken from intersection of Columbia Drive and Charter Oaks Drive in Castro Valley, California.

First photo taken circa 1980 with my '66 FJ40 and friend / fellow Land Cruiser owner Brad in yellow shirt.

Second photo taken from same location in 2023 - image taken from Google Earth "Street View".

Well, these are getting pretty boring, but I will keep digging in the photo collection. Here is one from Davis, California. Circa 1981. "Olive Tree Lane", they call it. That little speck in the distance is my FJ40!

So that's where all the 45 pickups went ! Wonder why they black out the last two letters on the tailgates? The Yemeni Toyota dealer musta been a very rich man.
I was wondering the same thing. Looks almost like a plate tag (license) or something?

Or they named their business “TOYO” and it was an easy branding opportunity?

Alright here are some more young people enjoying their FJ40s! All four photos taken on the same day in 1981. The first two were taken at the "vista point" on state Highway 4 in California, between the towns of Farmington and Copperopolis (but much closer to Copperopolis). Stopped to take photos on our way to a snowcamping adventure. Not sure what those guys are doing in the background of the first photo. Third photo taken "somewhere on highway 4 in the Sierra foothills". Last photo of my friend's truck after he spun out and ended up tail end down an embankment. We were not equipped to pull him back up with our FJ40s, and I am uncertain if we would have been able to if we were. A passing snowplow yanked him out. Great times.
