There is no market for them.
Plenty of good used complete panels on the market all the time.
This is a case where it's just easier to replace an entire side, than to try and repair rust.

I'd say there is a market, personally. I posted a thread about 'em just yesterday, and I'm not the only other guy to ask.

There really aren't good used ones around me, because they're all as badly rusted as the ones I'm trying to repair, don't fit my year, and/or they want $500 per side plus another $50 to ship. Unless every other 40 on the planet decides to go soft-top at some point, the supply of sides will dry up.

At very least I'd love to see someone make replacements for the top and bottom edges. Most of us could weld the patches in the flat sheet metal. It's only easier to replace the whole side *because* nobody makes replacement pieces.

"EXACTLY my experience

There are a pair of clean 74s at the top of the first page.....for 125 each.

If you think that you could get brand new aftermarket side panels in steel for less than 800 a piece, you're crazy.
Even just the tops or bottom repair pieces would be in the 400-500 dollar range.

Seriously!? Geezus. Maybe the $500.00 in labor to repair mine isn't bad after all. Mine have the typical top and bottom rail rot. Not totally shoy but bad enough. And below the side windows where the seam overlaps need repair.

I'd go with repairing yours. At least you'll know what you have. Alot of the parts that I've been collecting need work too.

When you say "top of first page" In classifieds under Parts for Sale, Parting Out ?

Ehhh...They're 74's though. Still means I've got to chop them up. All the glass in mine are mint, and I like the kick-out windows, so I'd rather not use a different year's windows. (That is, if 74's would even work, since that's pre-ambulance doors, haven't researched that yet)

at 400 bucks for something like that, I'd call it a wash between repairing with new steel vs. replacing with used that might still need work. And like I said, that supply isn't unlimited. Prices on those sides is going to start climbing as more guys need to replace theirs, and less guys want to sell their good ones.

The 74s would fit. Add your cross bar and hardware and the kick out windows will also fit. You'd only need to add nutcerts for your ambulance door hinges.

I think I price all my 40 parts super reasonable as I do it for a hobby and extra cruiser cash for my toys. I buy just as much as I sell on here maybe more. I have 1968 40 that I've had over 20 years and a wannabe buggy in the making that's based on a 1974

It shocks me when I see the same part on the same page of the classifieds sell quickly and mine sit for awhile. I wonder if my cheaper prices scare people away. Even the flippers buy stuff from me, don't bother me one bit.

I only have one enclosed trailer to store parts in so I like to liquidate quickly. It's currently bursting at the seams...
