Hello, I have a 74 fj40 with an F engine. It has turned the odometer numerous times but still runs fair. I live in a remote location and a 77 fj40 F2 with only 110,000miles is available. Wondering:
1. is it worth getting for parts for the F?
2. how much adapting would be needed for a switch-out, in the event the F dies?
Thanks so much

The 2f is a great swap. I have 2 of them. Look up threads on “dumbing down a 2f. Your intake carb and breather will bolt right up. Keep the oil cooler from the 2f it is a major improvement. Also if you can run the 2f distributor it is a really good upgrade. Don’t forget you need the igniter off the donor rig.

Do you have the 4 speed transmission?
You'll probably need the front motor mounts for the 2F, the bolts to the block are bigger.

I have a February 74. I put in an October 75 2F in it. I used the 74 flywheel and clutch. You might not have to, but I did. intake & exhaust also. Basically just swapped the block & head.
