Well the baton is officially on to the next adventure! Just returned from a quick one day 544 mile round trip to grants pass. Beautiful ride! Will post a couple pics in the other thread!

OK 69 4 FUN made the trip up. Must say the 40 isn't mine but my dad's. He owned a '67 off the lot that he totaled then got a '69 which I learned how to drive on. So I was born into this with Toyota blood. I have owned a '73 40, '86 60, '95 80, '93 p/u, '97 Runner and now my '17 Runner I'm building. This is the 40 I got for trading my 60 which I handed over to my dad years back and he completely restored. He's not on here much so I jumped in to help out and then told him. Needless to say he was more than happy to be part of it which is not surprise. Here's a few pics of the hand off. I had to sneak my Runner in there with my plate that I used to run on my 80. Will be heading North and handing off soon. Thanks all!

Didn't know there was another thread, sorry. Should I post the pics over there?

might just as well - the more pics the better

Garett, it's good to "meet" you. I may, or may not, be riding along with lorax. It all depends on what day it is. No matter what day it is it will be good to have the baton continuing on it's path.

Grants Pass sure has changed over the years. I lived there for almost two years in the early seventies. It's been a couple years since I have been there. Usually go on through there and to south of Cave Junction to just before the airport. There are times I wish I still lived there since you are in the middle of areas of logging roads, and almost no time needed to get off of pavement.

Don

ps- my 40 is not driveable right now, hasn't been for several years. But, there have been many times when I wished I could drive it again.

This weekend is booked for me (work), so I am looking at the 9th/10th, hopefully the 10th, so Don can ride with me. After that, I will work with myquestoyota on the next leg.

Cheers.

This weekend is pretty good for me but not the next. I am good for the 16th or 17th though. Not going to make it to Torfab for their December get together but we'll keep it moving.

That sounds good.

Didn't hear anything from you guys. Let us know down here when you get things scheduled.

I'm good for the 16th if that works

16th works for us just shoot us a time frame.

Where are we thinking of meeting up? Portland is about as far as I'm good for. I thought we had a Portland member in between us? lorax?

Oh ya we can only get to Roseburg which is the leg Lorax is doing I'm pretty sure.

That's what I was thinking also

Is this route only going through the US? It would be sweet to make it up into canada and along the Trans canada highway runs coast to coast.
Originally, there were some thoughts of doing just that-across Canada and then back into the US from whence the baton came--

I would like to be able to ride along on the leg between Roseburg and Portland. However, my 40 is not driveable. I have been PMing with Lorax, and will possibly be available to ride along with him. My last communication with him he was working that upcoming weekend (two weeks ago), and no word on the following weekend (last weekend). I haven't heard any more, so assuming his work schedule is not working out currently for him.

Don

I am also interested.
I'm in! Thanks for getting this started! I was playing around with Google maps and plotted a route if it were to start in Seattle.

Approximate distances:

Seattle – Portland – 175 miles

Portland – Eugene – 115 miles

Eugene – Medford – 170 miles

Medford – Redding – 150 miles

Redding – Danville – 210 miles

Danville – San Luis Obispo – 225 miles (my leg)

San Luis Obispo – Los Angeles – 190 miles

Los Angeles – Barstow – 115 miles

Barstow – Las Vegas – 160 miles

I am based in San Francisco. Here is my 40

I have not heard any more either but fairly flexible. I'm trying to round up some more 40's for my stretch, we'll see. My plan with my Seattle connection is to meet at Dash Point in Tacoma with hopefully some shots of the Narrows Bridge for a backdrop. I also considered a Mount Rainier play date as an alternative.
