yup. drums are visibly riveted (you can see on inside and backside), also they have a different shape to the bend in the center section. the rivets themselves stick out enough to hit the caliper and bind. some have said they could grind them enough to clearance, i've never been that brave. disc rims are welded instead of riveted and will fit both drum and disc, as pighead mentioned.

excellent, i stopped a build on a 55 back a decade or so due to the fact i couldn't find a replacement windscreen.
i am going to look at a 78 55 this aft and didn't want to get inticed into buying it if i couldn't get glass for it.
(i live on a gravel road)

and i paid a hell of lot less for both of mine than cruisercorps wants for one of theres

Just talked to my glass guy about and he said he'd think $200-300 installed in the driveway, not including stripping.

Not OE, but it won't matter in Oklahoma, since it will be one of many.

I called him for another FJC windshield, which he gets $380 for. This will be fifth windshield in it, considering it came with OE new, dealer replaced when I bought it, and I've done twice.

I'm assuming they're produced locally in what used to be, Ford's glass plant and must have molds for many.

OE glass for the FJC is $1,400 sitting in a crate at dealer, if memory serves.

I'm not going to worry with the Pig's windshield until paint, but think I'll opt the local guy route, just have stripping on hand.

Does this appear to be an OE or OE replacement alternator for a72-74 F? Stated NOS.

Is there any reason why I wouldn't want an OE alternator?

Currently have reman.

you want fj60 alt...I don't know that the factory painted their brand new alternators- and the pulley looks , off, like it was turned out of a billet on a lathe. It makes me want to ask alot of questions, not say- oooh look at the NOS alternator...where is it, Ebay?

Yes, eBay.

Ad copy

"This is in brand New condition and ready for your restoration. I bought it for my FJ55 restoration project, but since sold it for an FJ40 project."

I messaged and reply was stated "new", but reading the ad is a little deceiving since it states "new condition".

Oddly, wound up on this item after looking for a fuse box cover, but the layout doesn't match what the schematic I have shows....I don't think.

Trying to take care of little stuff and not having much luck.

Thanks, by the way.

No, factory did not paint the alts, but the pulley looks right. Probably a reman.

Fuse box cover is very similar to my '74, except bottom fuse says "spare", mine says "Headlamp".

Was bound and determined to get the Pig out today, and succeeded, but not without multiple fails.

Parasitic drain somewhere, but considering the stellar hack job on wiring, can't tell from what.
Battery tests fine (was going to swap today, but least of my concerns) so jumped and away we went.

First fail wasn't our doing, but janky station's that's a 1/2 mile away (still no brake lights, but not a well traveled route. I was cautious) because they were out of gas.

Second fail is the now known difficulty steering, gear changing in a corner, all while trying to hold the DS door closed.

Returning, the throttle cable pulled out of the carb. No big deal, even though I tightened prior to leaving. It's jerry rigged like most all else.

No amount of carb adjustment I can see to do (this carb ain't in the FSM and it's not complete, anyway) will keep an idle at lower RPMs once it's warned up just a bit. No big deal since it won't remain.

Combination of the DS front leaf sag and, what I believe to be, a little sagging in the body have the tire battling for real estate. Not sure if there's a point that a leaf can't be re-arched, but the front DS is flat.

Others already known, in the clutch adjustment, brakes, leaking TC (first thought at PTO only, but it seeps at drain), electrical gremlins.

Resolved to work with what I've got, so it is what it is. Still unsure/overwhelmed at the pending process, but determined.....just not sure where to start.

Observations.

Honestly, I can live without power steering. It's not that bad. Still intend on, but for a street driving, not a necessity, in my opinion.

No dash controls or gauges work.

Can't live without AC. Would hate to limit the usable time for the two weeks of spring weather we have in OK, too, because it was so friggin' appealing to go driving today.

No radio, no phone, just drive. Sounded good.

Wanted to progress on something, just not sure what that'd be. Not sure if stripping the interior is a step in the right direction (leaving front seat) or not, while rounding up parts at such.

I realize personification is odd to some, but she looks happy, in my opinion. Tired....but happy.

I have a hard time personifying a vehicle as male.

Me too. Ige thinks TWRECKS is a male, but I secretly pat my Pig on the dash pad and say "good job, baby" after a particularly tough spot...when Ige isn't in the passenger seat.
