I have been running the LC Phil battery hold down for the last few years, and on my rig the front J hook is steadily pulling an elongated hole in my battery box. I think a better solution would be to use an additional flat piece of steel to connect the bolt hole in front of the battery to the battery hold down bar (which LC Phil supplies) across the top of the battery.
I put a red circle around the bolt I am talking about. I borrowed the photo from above, so ignore the red lines. I think a flat piece of steel with a couple of bends in it would work well and I wish the kit came supplied with that rather than or in addition to the J hook. I plan to get a piece of thickish flat stock and make such a piece myself, and I'll use it in addition to the parts supplied by LC Phil.
I'll post up some pics once I'm done. (Don't hold your breath.)
I'm not knocking LC Phil's design or approach, and I appreciate the innovation. I just think the kit can be improved and strengthened with the addition of another piece.
