Fed up with your crappy 80 series battery mount? LCP has a fix

I have been running the LC Phil battery hold down for the last few years, and on my rig the front J hook is steadily pulling an elongated hole in my battery box. I think a better solution would be to use an additional flat piece of steel to connect the bolt hole in front of the battery to the battery hold down bar (which LC Phil supplies) across the top of the battery.

I put a red circle around the bolt I am talking about. I borrowed the photo from above, so ignore the red lines. I think a flat piece of steel with a couple of bends in it would work well and I wish the kit came supplied with that rather than or in addition to the J hook. I plan to get a piece of thickish flat stock and make such a piece myself, and I'll use it in addition to the parts supplied by LC Phil.
I'll post up some pics once I'm done. (Don't hold your breath.)
I'm not knocking LC Phil's design or approach, and I appreciate the innovation. I just think the kit can be improved and strengthened with the addition of another piece.

Just bought a couple of 'nissan' style battery clamps (for my main & aux). Same as on my oz patrol. Never understood the stupid 80 series design - finally getting around to 'fixing' it. Sometimes it takes me a decade or two to fix something :)

Anyone know the best way to get a hold of Phil? No contact info on his site and I sent a PM on here a couple weeks ago that hasn't been read.

I don't want to pester him but I'd really like to get this in hand or at least on the way.
Just go to his site and order what you need, no need to talk to him, He's a stand up guy

If you really need to talk to him send another PM ;)

I can’t, won’t ship to a PayPal address from Canada.

I tried ordering a pair. Doesn't look like he ships to Canada...? has anyone from Canada ordered from Phil? I PM'd him but haven't heard anything as of yet

I like the look of that battery hold down. Do you have a part number?
Thanks.

I got one PM after a couple weeks, responded, and then nothing back. Been a couple months now so I'm no longer pursuing it.

Amazon product ASIN B07Y2MN7ZW
But I see they are $17 each vs $12 each a couple or so months back. Inflation, yeah, we got that!!

cheers,

Carid. Com
Has them for under $7.00 bucks.
Amazon prices are higher than anybody’s these day.
Quick Google search had Half a dozen places had them cheaper than Amazon.

I ordered one and didn't like it as much as the factory tie down, so switched back to factory and been solid for a few years now.
Phil makes some great product nonetheless..

Does anyone know where I can get one today?

Thank you!!
Not sure why I was coming up with a dead end. I appreciate ya, @Broski

The problem with the OEM one is if it does come lose it can short out the battery potentially causing a fire. but I think you already know that 😜
