Hey guys! Im currently rebuilding my 1HDT Engine, pistons, rings, new oil pump, etc.

And i wanted to know any recommendations on how to break in the engine??

Drive it! Don't baby it. Don't wrap it in cotton wool.

Drive it normally for the first couple of hundred miles, change the oil.
Then seriously consider loading it up and drive it like you stole it for the next 500 miles.
 
Owners of rebuilt 1HD-T , and rebuilt 1HZ in Australia commonly complain that they are burning oil 12 months later.

The common denominator, they are driven like they are made of glass, wrapped in cotton wool, and babied.

This fails to get sufficient heat and pressure to bed in rings, and cylinder walls can get glazed.

Same thing was common to early 200 series diesel V8s coz your typical soccer mum never did much more than a high idle while getting groceries at the mall.

Drive them in anger as Toyota intended, and you'll get a better result
