Thanks for the quick reply @turbo8 ! I've had winches on Jeeps and 4Runners, run without on a Bronco Raptor, last LX, and now in a Defender (don't laugh and wish me luck :D). Knock on wood I have never needed to use a winch to recover myself (maybe I'm not trying hard enough :D) but every time I had one I ended up using to help with recoveries.

So on the one hand, it isn't make or break for my next build plan. But rather, a nice to an option to put a winch on, either up front, or for my (S*** hits the fan for someone else) use case, mounted out back works too.

This was just a prototype to make sure I got all the dimensions correct. If I do sell this, it makes total sense to have mounts for a winch. Anything else I should add, keep in mind this is suppose to be a low profile bumper.

Thanks @TeCKis300 and @TaishoCruiser

Only thing to add is...make sure you throw some love to the '16+ LC crowd :bounce: Though I dunno how much of an issue a low-pro bumper/winch set-up may be to the future install of a Magnuson kit.

Plus 1, someone needs to get @turbo8 a 2016-2021 LX to scan!

Welcome although @TeCKis300 added insight where as I just added extra work :D. Others mentioned the 2016+ love, which I would support, but beyond cut lines, underneath the bumper cover, I don't remember what, if anything moved up front moved?

Of course, provisions for a Magnusson or Harrop 2650 intercooler would be great but beggars can't be choosers. FWIW you can see where the Magnusson intercooler sits in step 211 of their installation guide here - Maguson LC200 Installation Guide .

o_O The bumper will probably work better on all the LC variants. Did I get these right?

The LX570 'sencond facelift' had two grill options - a regular, silver slat, and a second, honeycomb or 'sport package' grill. Pretty sure, but not 100%, that the shape of the grill is the same (cut lines for the bumper, etc). The lower part of the bumper is different... but we'd be cutting that part off so its a bit of a moot point :).

Is this it? I'm glad I don't have that grill on mine.

Oh yeah, I used to think that grill was ugly as hell when first introduced.. but have since owned multiple Lexus models with it, including LS and IS. Its not too bad. And in fact, will be looking for the right white LC when time comes. Maybe an LX too. Having owned 30 Lexus/Toyota products in the past 20 years, I might as well try every one of them. Well, short of the LFA or 2000GT.

Would the winch mount/plate be aluminum too? I don't think I've ever seen a winch plate in aluminum. Any downsides vs steel for a winch mount/plate?
As of now, where the winch would mount, that part is 1" thick 6061-T6 aluminum. Looking around, most steel winch plates are around 1/4" thick?
I will run FEA on it to verify.

II've seen +/- when it comes to steel winch mounting plates - anywhere from 3/16's to 3/8ths (maybe the exception to the norm).

For other folks, I'm NOT a materials or mechanical engineer (so take this with a pinch of non corrosive salt) but have helped install and have seen no issues with aluminum cross members for skids as well as at least one aluminum winch mounting plate for a TJ/LJ jeep. I do not remember how thick it was, but it seemed to hold up well. EDIT - can't confirm but that Jeep TJ winch plate may have been from UCF, and that is listed as only being 1/4 inch 6061-T6.

You gotta pump those numbers up... Those are rookie numbers ;). I kid, I kid. I do think time, both in general and time spending driving different Lexus models, has brought a lot of people around to the front end design language.

Simple vertical holes in a horizontal area for lights or an antenna.
I’d say fog lights, but with the proliferation of LEDs a thin, wide ‘fog’ solution should be pretty easy to add, though a ‘standard’ provision or recommendation that fits under a lip and has mounts in place could be useful.
At least one rated recovery point, but two that are a good width for a bridle is better.
And third or fourth vote on space for a short pull competition winch or a regular winch.
