Build Dune 78 - Tilda Bogue Service Station

This truck has been around Mississippi for about 20 years or so. The owner has a duck hunting supply company and has used it at outdoor shows and stuff.

He barely unuses it and for sure never kept it in good shape.

In 2022 he brought it to me after a local Jeep shop did some work and did not know about the carb idle circuit so to keep it at idle they bumped the base timing to 35*

Almost roasted it.

Anyway I got it. Pulled the original carb and sent it to JimC and put an eBay carb on it.


4 years later he asks me to sell it for him

Still has the s*** carb and even the same oil and filter I put in it

This thing looks pretty good and it’s got good bones but it won’t stay running good with the china carb and low use since 2022.

I showed it to a local 10 days ago and it did not show well due to that.

I was about to slap another carb on it and keep showing it when the owner called and said he had a buyer.

Sure enough the new guy called and the deal was done after he and I discussed options.

The new owner chose the “do it all” package and I started ordering parts.

Today I started in on it with parts I had in house and got the suspension installed.

I kind of feel guilty that my shop has AC when I look out and Red is weeding the shop beds

I need to put the tires back on and drag it out to drain the coolant and pull the radiator and holder and shroud and the powder pile will be complete

The top of the cylinder head looked amazingly clean for a truck with 4 year old oil in it.

Made the first powder drop

Now I’m bleeding her out to get to the radiator support and fan shroud.

This engine does not have any current leaks but like all of these things it has leaked in the past so it needed some clean

Zepp orange soak for :30 and it blasted very clean. I’m stoked.

Do you spray concentrate on directly? Looks good, better than the OTS auto parts degreasers.

Stock they are through the downpipe. I always forget that when I cut them. Much easier under the truck where it’s single.

Who knew, thats interesting and probably why alot of folks with aftermarket exhaust complain their steering box is all fubared, that double wall reduces heat in engine bay ALOT.

Final parts stripped away. Now to paint and start stacking parts back on.
