Georg, If I missed anything or misspoke in here please correct me. I'm doing this from my fading memory.

Georg watching a Ford Explorer getting strapped out by a jeep. Not sure what that Jackwagon was thinking bringing that on the trail.

He should sell it and get one of these...

Who brought the chopper? This s***'s gettin' out of hand!

Too many thoughts, photos and details to keep going.

Georg, thanks for everything. It was cool getting to hang out for a few days. See you guys in October.

Not sure, but Georg and I are expecting helicopter rides or maybe a bungee jump at the crawl this year.:grinpimp:

I'm bringing a C-17! Screw a little ole baby whirley bird!

First off: jeff I enjoyed having you out here and wheeling with us. I'm glad I finally got the opportunity to repay some of the hospitality I've received from CLC over the last few years.

Great write-up and very accurate. Awesome shots as well. Just like anyplace else, pics don't necessarily do justice to the scenery and how steep some of these obstacles truly are.

I had a great trip. Solid group, no failures or breakage, plenty of food, good camping and a fun bunch of guys. Good thong we had sizzler along or I would have caught more sh$t for sure. He definetly got his share. Lol

The buggy did great, went up everything I wanted it to. Even a few lines I'd never been able to run in the past.

Put it on the calendar kids, y'all need to be here in 2013. Another epic trip in the making!

The white 4 runner used to be yours and it evidently is rubi- worthy. But no 80's? Guess it's not a wheel base issue? Whats the differentiating factor?

Enjoyed every pic. Crazy to think a trip that would be so over the top for us is an every year event for some.

80's do fine. They might take a hit on the quarter panels here or there, but there are plenty in the springs.

When we went the FJ Trail teams brought in a whole s*** load of newbies in FJ Cruisers so the Lexus would make it all look dumb.

The helo is used to support Rubicon Springs. They bring in stuff and sell rides. It is cool the first 20 times he flies by. After 200 though....

80s do just fine as long as they have some armor. sliders and bumpers are a must. the second group we passed had 3 of them, none incurred any damage that i could see. takes some good spotting and lots of patience in a few spots, other that that no big deal.

Don't think we would be bringing the 80 one way or the other but I was just curious. Debbie and I got the impression it wasn't an 80 type trail and she's not too big on driving chris'40. Just clarifying.

i guess it all depends on what you guys are comfortable with and which other trails we'd want to run while you're out here. 80s would do great on duzy-ershim. might have to winch them on a couple of spots on fordyce. i'm supposed to run that trail next month and will take pics. have'nt been there in a couple of years. the snow and ice tend to move the rock around quite a bit up there in the sierras so the trails are a little different every year.

luckily time is on our side so we have time to figure it all out.

Truly beautiful photos. I hope this trail never gets shut down, especially before I get to experience it. Thank you for sharing.

Slight hi-jack: The Rover on Toy axles in post# 26. It appears to be running some version of SIMEX tires such as Jungle Trekkers, etc? If that's what they are, how did he accomplish this? (getting them imported).

--Hi-jack over--

Thanks, Justin

I think it would be a large stretch to get everything you need at the Rubithon for a family of 4 in anything other than a wagon. If you packed like a backpacker, you might could strap enough stuff on the Zuk to get in there, but to live for 4 days out of it would be really hard.

We went in and did not go out daily to wheel like some folks do. We parked at the Springs and hiked, played in the river and overall just enjoyed being there.

The wheeling on the Rubicon and on the few options that are there is not really worth driving a buggy if you have to sacrifice the comforts. The ultimate would be to have both there. One to pack all the stuff, one to go out wheeling in.

We went in and out the same way like Jebber and crew did. Doing that, we got all the wheeling in we wanted to do. I drove a mini truck with a camper shell that was very similar in size to my 80 and we had no problems. Sliders and bumpers for sure as you use them in the Sluice's.

I won't be going, but I can offer advice from my experience. If you guys make this trip from MS, take the wagons. It is 100% not about the wheeling when you do the Rubicon, it is about the experience and you can have that same experience in any capable vehicle but you need room for gear.

This would be a kid free trip so that leaves it an option to take the Zuk. I don't care if we show up on roller blades and catch rides along with others. Just want to go!
