That is not for everything. Shifters and related parts are all extra. Plan on $3000 for the doubler installed. Or, swap in an LS with an atlas for just a few dollars more.Any recent word on this? On the first page of this thread, I saw a price of $2300 mentioned. Is that for everything (except 2 new drive shafts, and a gas tank mod), or is the proposed doubler an adapter to attach some other transfer case?
If this would retain the stock t-case, it seems that getting the Marlin gears would still be a benefit if hoping to add a doubler when available.
I'm cheap, but $3K would be a pill I might swallow. My guess is closer to $6K installed with shift linkage, tank mods, two new drive shafts, and a $2300 doubler. I guess I'll have to wait to see the price once the product is ready. I'm sure there would be several takers at $6,000. I'd be happy to see your $3,000 estimate be correct. That is not for everything. People need to get the fear of running an atlas out of their heads. You CAN have multiple angles on a driveshaft as long as your angles at the pinion and the transfer case match. It's that simple. No offset Atlas options at this time
Who's gonna pay 6k???
Not with a double cardan / cv shaft.People need to get the fear of running an atlas out of their heads. You CAN have multiple angles on a driveshaft as long as your angles at the pinion and the transfer case match. It's that simple.
Yes, even with a cv shaft. There's plenty of rigs out there that do it. Are they AWD? No. But if you're at the point you need/want a doubler in your rig you should be ready to add selectable hubs in the front. Not with a double cardan / cv shaft.
I'm referring to the rear. Obviously on road with a CV shaft you could get some hubs but some people want to run a CV shaft in the rear and that would be a problem with a mismatched offset t-case.Yes, even with a cv shaft. lame - once you're into engine/tranny swap territory, transfer case options abound. This was supposed to be something that integrated into the existing platform. Disappointing news from NWF after a year of no movement.Talked to NWFabs a few days ago and they're hoping to have something ready by the beginning of next year... at least for the GM engine/tranny swaps. He said they have 3 test units being built right now. Length of the unit is 5-1/8" and I should expect the price to be around $1800.

Bingo. Sounds like you and I will be buying the 3.1 gears. For what it's worth, though, I'm able to get around wherever I need to go with the current gears, though it's a bit lurchyYeah I'm surprised by this move. It makes no sense. The 80 crowd that wants a doubler is already small niche market. Then somebody said, "hey! let's totally f#ck up this grand idea by restricting to an FJ80 with a GM engine/transmission!" Their customer base just went from a few dozen to like 2.
