Any recent word on this? On the first page of this thread, I saw a price of $2300 mentioned. Is that for everything (except 2 new drive shafts, and a gas tank mod), or is the proposed doubler an adapter to attach some other transfer case?
If this would retain the stock t-case, it seems that getting the Marlin gears would still be a benefit if hoping to add a doubler when available.

That is not for everything. Shifters and related parts are all extra. Plan on $3000 for the doubler installed. Or, swap in an LS with an atlas for just a few dollars more.

No offset Atlas options at this time

I'm cheap, but $3K would be a pill I might swallow. My guess is closer to $6K installed with shift linkage, tank mods, two new drive shafts, and a $2300 doubler. I guess I'll have to wait to see the price once the product is ready. I'm sure there would be several takers at $6,000. I'd be happy to see your $3,000 estimate be correct.

Who's gonna pay 6k???

Somebody who drops it off at a shop.

Atlas is looking better, as much as I would like to run this black box it does not seem like it is remotely a priority. Plus my 1fz is starting to get tired.

People need to get the fear of running an atlas out of their heads. You CAN have multiple angles on a driveshaft as long as your angles at the pinion and the transfer case match. It's that simple.
Not with a double cardan / cv shaft.

Yes, even with a cv shaft. There's plenty of rigs out there that do it. Are they AWD? No. But if you're at the point you need/want a doubler in your rig you should be ready to add selectable hubs in the front.
I'm referring to the rear. Obviously on road with a CV shaft you could get some hubs but some people want to run a CV shaft in the rear and that would be a problem with a mismatched offset t-case.

Any updates on this, it looks like almost a year since the first post? I sent an email to Marks asking what it would take to bring back the crawl box for the 80, I'm waiting to see if they respond. Anyone running the crawl box from Marks have any feedback on how well it worked? Any reason more people didn't buy this when it was available?

Just a follow up from my last post, Marks 4WD replied to my email and stated the following:
"There are so many parts to manufacture we would have to probably do a run of 20+ of the units.
I would guess the units would be costing $4,000.00 - $6,000.00 AUD each"
This probably explains why Advance Adapters hasn't come out with anything yet. I'm still hoping they end up producing something I have to believe with 3x locked 80 series selling for between 2k and 5k there has to be a market for a doubler.

Talked to NWFabs a few days ago and they're hoping to have something ready by the beginning of next year... at least for the GM engine/tranny swaps. He said they have 3 test units being built right now. Length of the unit is 5-1/8" and I should expect the price to be around $1800.

Will plan on watching Jose do a LQ9 swap shortly then just to get this doubler!

lame - once you're into engine/tranny swap territory, transfer case options abound. This was supposed to be something that integrated into the existing platform. Disappointing news from NWF after a year of no movement.

Yeah I'm surprised by this move. It makes no sense. The 80 crowd that wants a doubler is already small niche market. Then somebody said, "hey! let's totally f#ck up this grand idea by restricting to an FJ80 with a GM engine/transmission!" Their customer base just went from a few dozen to like 2.

With marks adapter to keep the transfer case with a GM swap being only $200 cheaper, I'D go with the doubler I'd ever ever get around to swapping the engine. I can't seem to find a split case and would rather keep my awd.

This doubler could also be used in conjunction with the Cummins engine. Just use a 4L80e auto and adapter plate to the motor :)

Bingo. Sounds like you and I will be buying the 3.1 gears. For what it's worth, though, I'm able to get around wherever I need to go with the current gears, though it's a bit lurchy
