Hello everyone, I already did a google search on this subject and a IH8mud search here.
Did not find much.
So please bear with me.
When I raise and lower my drivers side front door window, I get a horrific sound, scraping sound like someone scratching their fingernails against a chalkboard, but louder.

I think I need to replace the horizontal rubber gasket on the door, the gasket that seals the glass.

Does anyone know how to replace and or restore the old rubber gasket and where to find a part if necessary?
Do I have to get this part from the dealer?

Any help greatly appreciated, It has gotten to the point where it is starting to scratch the glass.
thanks

Inner and outer window belt mouldings.

Put that in the search thing here on ih8mud.
Also, search for mud member Akella. You can get those parts through him, or a dealership.

Search
"How to. Window belt mouldings replacement"

When you read that fine thread just know that Cdan has retired from the parts business. You'll have to go elsewhere for parts. Like mud member Akella/Cruiser Addiction, or Beno, or from an online vendor.

"just know that Cdan has retired from the parts business."
I got parts from the same people where Cdan worked, (June 2016), and they said they would give me the same discount as Cdan.
Also I read a post recently where Cdan posted (recently, like May 2017) and he said he could get parts for someone.

Also it seems all the links you guys gave me are all about the Channel Guides, and that is fine, but I need info on the horizontal rubber gaskets you know, the ones that look like little squeeges that seal out water and stuff. Right now it is not the channels I am having a problem with, it is the horizontal rubber gaskets along the top of the door slot where the glass goes down, when the window is down.

thanks

You are in Napa county so "mudrak's" landcruiser shop in Sonoma might not be too far away if you would like some hands on help.

Cdan has retired, not the dealership, obviously.
All info found on my phone while at work.

The exterior belts have plastic clips (six if I remember correctly) that snap in under the door sheet metal, and the interior ones require removal of the door panels, there are small metal tabs that hold the belt to the door panel.

You say it's starting to scratch your glass? I doubt dry rubber or felt would scratch the glass. Are you sure this is your issue? Pictures of scratches?

Check that the window is still running inside the rubber channel on the front and back edges.
I've seen them slip out of the rubber and run in between the steel channel and the rubber channel, when this happens is not always immediately obvious, and it sounds horrible

What is that contact information please?

@beno is also a vendor on Mud. He was raised by wolves in the jungle and has a photogenic memory for part numbers. All things Toyota related, he was initially trained by CDAN, and is a great resource. I believe you can contact him via his web site or phone number listed in his profile here on mud. I have ordered countless things from him and he has always made sure everything is correct. All joking aside, @beno and "Call the man".
