The real reason the frames rot is the water builds up in the rear half of the frame over time. Is there a company who sells the rear half frame of a 60 and are we talking about $$$ It would have a cross tube with the shock studs and c channel. Wonder what shipping would cost shipped to the pacific north west?

You can get a guesstimate via weight and how it would be shipped online. Not hard to get an idea. @landcrusher909 has shipping doors ect or Georg @orangefj45 might have an idea.

Find someone parting one out that is in good shape. SoCal, AZ, NM. I've shipped leaf springs and shocks from TX to Seattle with Fastenal cost about $150. Size may play a role in cost. SOR has stacks of frames but the cost will prob not work out.

Honestly, it may be cheaper to pay someone to help fab / repair. Trail Tailor has rear c channel repair kits and should be coming out with a cross member kit as well. Might be an option if everything else isn't completely shot to hell.

I am in Tacoma. The bj60 frame on the right side is in tough shape. 1/2 of the inner channel is rusted half way up the channel from the half way point to the arch over the axle...so it can be cut out. The RT outside channel has some holes near the front spring pirch. The cross was rusted off lone time ago and I had made a new one but some idiot from surrey stole it from my place :(. I just wonder if it is worth it to replace it. The right inner wheel well is rusted up to the floor. Dam it if Toyota did not put sealant in the panels this would have never happened. I would not mind starting a land cruiser club and repair these part time. Tacoma does not seem a place that is interested in these trucks. I rarely if ever see them here.

I'd subscribe to he parting out thread and call TorFab in Everrett. They have done a couple 60 series body on 80 series frames. They could have a good frame in the yard but I'm not sure about that. Might also look up club pages in AZ /SoCal and post up to see if anyone has a parts rig they would chop the rear frame from.

I see lots of Land Rover guys doing this.

My questions (always questionable) are these.
Vermont, for example matched my Body VIN to the frame VIN when I registered my F150 (i was a resident). It was a visual inspection they did.
How does this work for other states?
How does this also work if the VIN does not match in case of an accident?
Will the insurance company deny this claim if they checked (that could be a huge IF)
Are you looking at other fines in these cases?

I know you can get a vehicle frame VIN changed if you do a replacement and i believe it is just a form in Virginia (where I am now) and a trip the the Sheriffs office where they re-stamp it. However at that point it may have a different classification.
I would look at that for your state before I ever changed a frame.
