I need to figure out a way to mount kayak mounts on my rack, looking at the rear of the truck, the slats run vertically which doesnt seem to be popular with generic kayak holders. I have the k9 rack, which is similar to front runner. Im still looking

I have the regular ARB basket rack. I've been fine just strapping down two inverted kayaks on that using 2 ratchets per boat. I also paracord both ends to bumpers so I can have a gauge of if something loosens up on the road. Driven up to 6 hours of highway travel at a time and never had a problem. Of course, I check each ratchet at every stop. This works for me only if I do not need to use the rack for anything else.

I'm comfortable doing this on the 80 rack but don't think I'd try it on the 40 rack (aluminum 50x50 Surco). I might throw a single boat up there tho.

I do the same on the Bajarack, added pool noodles to the bars so the kayaks are more comfortable, complain less. And the pool noodles come in handy when on the water, double whamer.

Not at flood stage :)
Thats the parking lot which is about 15-20' above normal water level here at the Dan

I came from Pilot Mtn toward Reidsville via hwy 65, and Belews was way up and ugly brown from the runoff. Church St was closed between 158 and 150 at the dip near the VFW post because of high water. I detoured down Scalesville Road, and it was the highest I've ever seen it right at the County Line. The water was about a foot from the road, with a huge current running through the culvert under the road.

I am planning on hitting the Uwharrie river Saturday morning, starting at Low Water Bridge, then connecting to 109. Water level should be pretty good.

@MaryTandra and I kayak the Haw often. We put in about a mile from the house and get out about 5 miles down the river. It's a nice 4 hour ride on a sunday,

How can a little bird foook up your kayak trip? I was cleaning them from sitting by the fence all winter long, and birds nested by the seat of one! Call my biologist wife, and she says I can't remove the nest, it's against maternal law or something to that effect. Trip over!! Should have kept my mouth shut and bring the stupid cat over.

hehehe - happened to my canoe one year :).....

Contemplating a kayaking trip next weekend _ March 23-25th. Likely a Saturday paddle, with a potential overnight camp on Saturday night.

Weather is a little iffy as of now, but assuming it clears up, anyone care to join? Likely up north of Greensboro area - Dan river perhaps. Somewhere there's a bar and a campsite nearby.

Should be off next weekend so as of now I’m in.

If we didn't have an 80 down and other adult responsibilities around the house we would definitely be onboard.. Keep us posted of your next adventure out. :)
