Build Do I have your attention.... I call it VERA.

And it coughed to life. After we figured out there wasn't enough gas in it to fill the sump.

Start working on a few things…. Really just walking around Vera and keep getting distracted with another item that needs work, so not sure anything got done…

Got the lower radiator hose installed and have the in-line temperature sensor from a BMW to trigger the Volvo fan relays high and low. Unfortunately, spent several hours trying to figure out how to wire the sensor. Finally found the pin out for it. Top Terminal is common ground … bottom right is terminal I for high heat, terminal II is for low.

Made amount for the trailer plug, although still working on wiring between it to the stock harness…

Made out for the Volkswagen accessory fuse box, and finally found the wiring pigtail for it…. That’s been half the battle trying to find the stuff I’ve accumulated. Still looking for gas tank straps and fuel tank level sender.

Volvo fuse panel will provide power for the Volvo fan and for other accessories under the hood.

Lots of little things are progressing, that take so much time….

Had to add an angle piece on the front steering damper, to get it mounted. Working on that old air products AC vents and I need them to turn quickly, so cut them at an angle, and spliced in some old PVC pipe to get about a 45° turn. Used steel stick to mend them together. Got the wiring started to the Volkswagen external fuse box. Including wiring, the Volvo fan relay. And got the emergency chain mounts for the trailer hitch tacked in place.

Gas tank has been the main focus…. I have been planning to take two 80 series fuel tanks and weld them together to increase the size of the tank by about 4 gallons I take advantage of the fact the frame has been stretched by 5 inches. But what I realized is that it would really only add two or 3 gallons because the smaller front side of the tank is all that I could’ve changed. So, went back to just use the standard 80 tank, and I can always add an auxiliary tank in the rear. Since the tank spans between the cab and the bed, I made new top mounts that span across the frame, and tacked them in place. Unfortunately, in the last couple years I’ve cleaned and thrown away the stock 80 fuel tank lower straps, luckily @kc_chevota has a set for me. Next step was to figure out the fuel filler pieces. Found a place online that appears to have everything I need. Place called filler neck supply company.

Going to be Rad !😁

Trying to figure out the trailer wiring. I have this plug that clearly has four of the tail lights, but I can’t find any standard Toyota trailer harness thing that plugs into it…. I think this is out of a 2002 tundra.

Second question for everyone, went to put the front locker in and the two long bolts at the top and bottom I’ve misplaced…. Went out to Toyota diagrams and I can’t find them ….anyone have a part number.

It was all about the gas tank today…. Went and harvested the set from @kc_chevota , then adapted and got them roughed in on Vera…. Also spent a bunch of time adapting the fuel tank sending unit and low tank switch. These came from 100 series or Tundra…. And I am using the 80 Series tank so it took some thinking to figure out how to make these work. I probably could’ve used the 80 Series tank and sending unit however that had a banjo fitting for fuel supply and different Electrical connections… the new one has a quick connects for fuel, so it was worth a little time to make it work.

Does anyone know about how I can either make or find a short fuel line? basically need something to go between the filter, threaded side and to the quick connect. Alternatively, I could do a union — something with threaded sides on both sides and use a threaded to quick connect piece I found on some car.

Some of the NAPA stores will make hydraulic hoses and may do high pressure fuel lines.
Check the one in Spring Hill.

Get a piece of metal trans line, it should thread into the fuel filter, similar to a piece of metal brake line. You can cut and or flare it to the right length.

I have a S.U.R.R kit at work that we use to make fuel lines. You can buy the individual pieces to put together quick connects too.
My local parts store has them in stock.

I used an adapter to connect an AN-6 fitting to connect a section of flexible line between the finter and hard line.

Great information…. @tornadoalleycruiser can I borrow your flare tool?

Wow u have been busy. Maybe a field trip is in order to finalize fuel. I need a dead carb from the yard out there anyway. We have options, adapter to the stock filter to goto an, depending on what is needed. Looks like filter is in its final resting place, guessing one of my mounts worked? I can call in sick to gray Industries Cruisers and spend a day with you to finalize plumbing. Prob have some spare metric to an fitting in the box. Lemme grab both flare tools, my push lock hose making tool and we can get it done.

Fuel filler supply line done …. Great vendor and great products!!

Goal today was to get the seats mounted and figure out where the E Brake is going…. Among other things. In the last year, I found a set of M3 seat seats so upgrading to that, turn them over to find it’s a different wiring harness. Need to track down a harness for this.
