For the install, follow Ben's instruction post, and two words: ratchet straps!

Front to back and in through the doors. You can square the skirts and rack up and have it held in place while you tighten everything up.

^that is an awesome idea. I think I'm going to re-do mine using this method, I'm not happy with how straight it is right now.

staggrlee, That looks great and thanks for the tip on the install.

Approximately how long did it take to install from start to finish (removing old rack, etc.). Was it a straight forward bolt-on procedure?

I am really liking the design of this rack. It looks incredible!

If you do it right the first time and have someone to help out, about two hours I estimate. My factory rack was long gone though. Everything bolts up fine as long as you get the alignment right.

This is my fourth rack iteration and I think I'm finally done. Went from factory rack with two Thule load bars on adapters, to a fake rain gutter setup with three Thule load bars, and most recently Rhino Rack square bars.

All of the previous setups suffered from excessive wind noise, and home brew light mounts/fairings never quite cut it in terms of addressing that, also mounting my Fiamma awning has been a challenge with each. I was sold on the rack by the removable tent bars. I dreaded mounting/removing my Maggiolina tent and trying to get under the tent with wrenches.

If you have to leave room to get under the tent while it's on the truck it will always be too high for my liking.

Got mine mounted up last night, looks awesome. Can't wait to figure out how to attach stuff.

The rear fairing is not flat like in all the pics in this thread, whats the story with the new design? Are there accessories coming?
If nothing else it should prevent things from sliding off the back of the rack :)

Interesting! Have you driven the truck at highway speeds since the install? I wonder if that has any effect on wind noise and air drag.

Had it up to 75 this morning, might have been a tad more noise, nothing obnoxious. Not sure about drag, will have to keep an eye on the MPGs, but all the other stuff I've been bolting on lately would not result in a very controlled experiment.

Your fairing is upside down ;)
Flip it over and it will look like the rest.

I may have missed it, but does this roof rack clear the factory LX upper tailgate spoiler? Or does the spoiler need to be removed?

It clears. Care must be taken during the install process to make sure everything is adjusted properly and it will clear.

Is this design confirmed to work with the 06 - 07 LX "whale tail" spoiler? (i.e., will it allow the trunk to completely open without any interference?

Anyone have any pictures of the trunk open, to demonstrate the clearance amount?

[I previously removed my whale tail because it was interfering with my roof box, but I kind of miss the look of the spoiler, and would prefer to re-install it if possible...]

Yes it clears,

Thanks. Do we have any pictures with the trunk open?

[also, confirming for the more knowledgeable among us, are all the "whale tails" on the lx the same, or are there any differences in the model years? that picture appears to be a pre-06/07 and wanted to confirm that 06/07 model years would also work.]

@benc got the question I had sorted out, thanks for the support!

Got my tent mounted yesterday. It required drilling the tent bars to accommodate the Maggiolina's mounting plate setup. Due to the location of the mounting track on my tent (Airland Med), it required setting it a bit back on the rack to get a good load span and have it sitting over the back and third-from-back location rack bars.

Took it for a test drive and wind noise seems good. I think the rake of the fairing and having the tent back bit actually helps with this. Plus it leaves a gap for the tent latches to drop into. If they're not fully extended it makes it almost impossible to get them tight enough to cinch down and not pop open on the trail.

May use the space for mounting something else (Maxtraxs, HiLift etc)...

Hello Dissent rack owners!
I really enjoy opening my sunroof while driving, from time to time.
Since this rack doesn’t leave an opening for the sunroof I wonder what your experience has been with it and sunroof operation.
I like the way the rack looks, and the low weight of it, but am ready to decide between this ineand another great rack.
I would really appreciate y’all taking a few minutes to give me your thoughts and experience. Thanks!

This wasn't something I thought too much about before putting my rack on, but a couple things I noticed after the install was:

1. It still slides back just fine, but don't plan on sticking your head out the window - the 2nd load bar goes right above the window.

2. It does not have enough clearance to fully tilt up, and it felt to me like the motor gave up trying once it encountered resistance. I rarely used this, and don't plan to anymore. I suspect if you raised the rack height it might clear it, but I don't know you'd get the front fairing to contact the roof. I'm curious if @benc knows how to accomplish this.

I have not had any issues keeping full function of both tilt and slide. Mine has about 1/4" when tilted open all the way.
