What if you sent 2 at the same time to the same location? I am in Oceanside so @slickdealmike is only about 10 - 15 miles from me. If ready in time, maybe even include the front bumper I currently have on order. :hillbilly:
Unfortunately it wouldn't save any via ups, you could possibly arrange with fastenal and save a bit though.
For ups it's $200 to California.
Let me know.
Your front bumper is coming up as well so the timing may work out nicely.

I may have a set or two left out of the last batch. If not your looking at 4-6 weeks.

Thanks Ben! Wasn't sure if there was any savings in shipping by combining multiple items at the same time.

Maybe I'll put the $1250 towards that new rear bumper you're working on. Factory skids not too beat up yet. And yes, I know the rear will probably be double if not more.

Ben

I am interested in your skid plates. I have a 2000 LX with factory bumpers. Will these work for me and is there any mods needed to my rig for them to fit properly? Also what would the total cost be with shipping be to Gainesville, GA?

Thanks
Jason

I have these skids installed on my 100% stock 07 LX with no issues. Just use the supplied 3/4" spacers up front (since you have no diff drop bracket) and you're good to go. You'll only need the 3 skids from the set, the 4th front-most skid plate is only needed if you're running the Dissent front bumper.

You're going to LOVE these skids! Makes the factory stuff look like tin foil.

Has anyone with the aluminum skids had them painted or powder-coated? Since I'm driving in winter and with the mag chloride Colorado is so fond of lately, I worry about corrosion.

According to this: Aluminum Chemical Compatibility Chart Mag Chloride gets a D-Severe Effect.

So, I am in the right track to get these painted/coated, yes?

I would totally powdercoat mine if I winter drove it in salt. Another option that’s much cheaper is just spraying them with a corrosion inhibitor. I personally like either Fluid Film or Amsoil Heavy Duty Metal Protector. One can should be plenty to do all those skids and have some left over if you’re not putting it on too thick. The good thing with these is if you ever scrape the skids (and you will if you use them as intended) you just spray some more on that area and forget about it. Powdercoating is going to be much more expensive and a more permenant solution.

I'll be doing a diff drop soon when I remove the AHC and do a 2" lift.

I got my diff drop bracket and was wondering are these spacers that came with the diff drop kit needed for the Dissent skids? Five small spacers and one large circled in green in the picture. Thanks

no spacers on mine, but don't get rid of them.

Did a shakedown wheeling run ahead of this summers expedition and got to really exercise the skids. They did their job!

When I took them off yesterday I found that about half of the hex head bolts were bent. I stripped one out in the process. Some of the flush mount washer are also pretty boogered.

Two questions:

(1) Has anyone else run into this? Any new hardware recommendations that won't get bent everytime you run over some rocks?
I'm looking at: McMaster-Carr

(2) A good source for more of the washers?

Had the same experience as you. Skids saved my transfer case when I came crashing down on Poughkeepsie but then a couple of the hex bolts/screws were bent to s$it when getting dragged off the high-center. Pay to play I guess...

(1) Can't help you here but please report back if you find some that do help. I replaced mine with the same spec screw.
(2) The original idea for those washers is found on page 11 of this thread here: Dissent offroad aluminum and steel skid plates but you might want to PM Ben directly to confirm if those were the ones purchased.

Cheers!
