I don’t think your bumper is gonna fall if it I would not go that route.

FWIW I just recently realigned my whole bumper because I wasn’t happy how the tire carrier was sitting on the strike plate and found it super easy third time around. I just looked everything and set the position with a floor Jack end then retightened.

There is probably more than enough slack to get it back another 1/4”.
I just went out and fixed it. It was 10 bolts to loosen and a tug on each recovery point. The fact that it’s that easy convinces me you want the bolts I missed to be solid on the mounting bracket to make more bolts help hold the bumper on during a recovery.

Also explains my left over hardware.

Maybe I could cut some 1/4" aluminum spacers or just stack washers to fill the gap?
Loosen the long bolt that goes through the Frame (and I think the 2 bolts that go in the recovery points) and then tighten the 2 you asked about first. Then, tighten the others.

Yup. Easy.

Ok got some advice from Cole re: the old instructions vs the new design. With the new design, the cut line is up much higher. So back to cutting and now the wings are on. All set. @radman no issues wiring up the fog lights to the factory setup? I did the same (green was 12v too) and my lights aren't firing up. My factory wires were 16 gauge and the Rigid were 12. I'll check fuses next. Need to finish off the parking sensors and then figure out the jigsaw puzzle of the Dissent front skids.

no issues at all. If I remember correctly, the 6" rigid lights are 1amp which is no issue at all for 16 awg wire.

Also, if you wait a few days, i'll post up some Skid instructions ;)

There is a dissent install documented on mud here

I know I am late to the party regarding this topic but for future peeps doing the relocation of backup camera and license plate light this video helped immensely as I just did a few weeks back.

Interesting. Most of this I eventually figured out but watch this first would have helped a lot! Thanks for sharing, will definitely help others. I tied in the extension wire in the hatch door and not in the head liner. That required fishing the extension wire up through the rubber grommet/hose thing with the rear washer fluid tube inside. Probably not a lot different in effort but I didn't need as much access under the head liner to do it my way compared to the video and I didn't need to unplug the 3 connectors under the head liner.

Just noting a few other differences:

1. The OEM wiring in the video wasn't shielded like mine.
2. I used Dissent's included extension cable which was shielded and had all wired in single insulation casing. I like that better than the individual wires taped every 6" used in the vid but that is just preference.
3. I routed the extension cable basically the same way through the existing grommet but I didn't cut a new hole in the grommet. I untapped the flexible loom under the grommet and fished the extension wire through it.
4. I did not have to pull as much of the interior trim off or things like the 3rd row seat belt in the head liner or grab handles. Doing all of that would make routing the extension cable easier but IMO, not worth the effort to pull all of that stuff.

The winch itself will bolt directly to the bumper, but I’m not sure if dissent supplies the control box mounting bracket with the base bumper (or if it’s an add on).

Part arrived yesterday so everything comes off to install the winch controller. At first I thought it might be difficult to connect the controller but there is clearance I think. Then everything goes back on, fix the fogs, and finally reinstall the parking sensors.

I’m working on my front bumper, should I have received any written instructions? I’m 2/3 of the way through and it’s not that complicated but I’m looking for torque values.

socket head screws that secure the center section: 25ft/lbs
3/8" Stainless Steel bolts that secure the wings to Center: 25ft/lbs
the 8 flange nuts to the frame horns: 40ft/lbs
All the 1/2" zing bolts: 90ft/lbs
the 4 M12 bolts that go where the factory tow points were: 90ft/lbs

socket head screws that secure the center section: 25ft/lbs
I still have 4 of these socket head screws and I can't quite tell where they go... I've looked at a tone of pictures and they must be internal. Does anyone have a picture of where they go?

The 4 * M12 bolt that replace the factory to hook bolts, any reason to not just use the factory bolts there?

Socket heads go here. And then the wings fit over them.

You can reuse the stock bolts if yours are in good condition.

WOW!
Wish I had known that. I think I use bolts all the way through the wind. And if I remember they were tough to get in. DOH!

Looking for a bike rack solution. I emailed Cole about a possible receiver hitch retrofit that they offer on the other panel types:

But no bueno. Instead of doing the swing away hitch I’m going to try a Yakima spare ride:

This will of course be offset due to the spare but I don’t think it’s going to be enough to worry about. My spare tire is on the inner most mounting point so it’s as centered as it can get.

Will post pics when it comes in.

I'll sell you mine for $100 :)

I even painted it black...

You'll probably need to grind the backing plate to fit our bolt patterns.

Oh dang. I paid more than $100 for it. Did it work? Why did you stop using it?

yea, shipping it would probably suck. It works great, but can only fit 2 bikes on it and too many kids for just 2 bikes. Now i carry a trasharoo with all the camping chairs in it.
