being in the middle of a FDB swap on my '68 FJ40, and having researched and read all I can on the subject for the past couple years, I concurr w/ dgangle's post (#18). If you need pads, rotors or seals for this setup, you can get them from any toyota dealer or auto parts store. I doubt the same can be said for the MAF setup.

now, THAT is true (for the front kit only, the MAF rear uses Chevy stuff); only racing shops carry Wilwood pads, and when I wated to stock up before Cruise Moab and MAF couln't get them to me fast enough, it took me an hour each way to buy them :frown: but I knew that in advance, didin't deter me from the kit.

But it would be a consideration if there was no racing shop anywhere near ;)

Do you have a set of your special pads, or any other custom pieces that could make you sit, on the shelf yet? ;)

In defense of the MAF kit, Summit carries parts and just about every pad compound Wilwood offers.

I know lotsa folks have had trouble with JTO in the past. Anybody tried their FDB kit? Seems awfully cheap and with all things being equal you probably get what you pay for. I understand that except for the mounts, it is all GM parts. Personally I plan on doing a mini truck swap and using 81' arms as I understand they will fit the mini parts and LC TREs with no modification and I have a cheap source for the mini parts.

yes, I got them before going to Cruise Moab from a raceshop after driving an hour to downtown Phoenix

I know there are a lot of options out there for front disc brakes. Prices on everything really does vary. The main reason our kit is $750 is because everything is brand new, and bolt on. Buying a used knuckle assembly is a great way to get cheap disc brakes, but I dont know anyone that puts it on without buying extra parts to make it work right.
And uses stock, Drum brake Birfields....

Bet it works with the ball and claw stuff too :D

For anyone looking, I have a mini truck setup left over and can sell it. PM me for details if you are interested
