Two doors to sand down and Dingo will be ready for filler and primer. Plan on finishing up by the end of next week on paint and body. Have some help coming in to knock it out so I can move on to other stages.

On a side note, I'm probably jinxing myself but trying to work a deal on this beauty. I've wanted one for over 30 years and it is my dream car.

Go for it Jason, I am a big fan as well. My first (licensed) car was a 57 Belair with Fred Flintstone floors. We have been frequenting classic car auctions, Heather fell in love with a black on black 65 Riv a month ago at GAA in NC. Thing had duel quads.

looks like a '55, my first real girlfriend's grandfather had a 4 door '56 rusting away in his yard (beyond repair) that I realized then it was my second dream car to own.
Sadly most are well out of my price range and the ones that are in there require about 100
So if you can get it. I doubt you will every regret it.
My first dream car and always will be is an original 64/65 Shelby Daytona Coupe. Unless I will a Powerball that will be WAY out of my price range, last one sold for over 7mill.

So one day maybe a '56 Chevy.

Just not the same

I understand, and I also don't have 7 mil. The replica Cobra market in general is huge. There were so many replica Cobras at Barrett Jackson you would think there was a machine in the back shizing them out. Most are very well engineered.

Biggest problem with most cobra replicas is the Speedo is sweeping the wrong way. And most gauges are just the wrong gauges period.

Now back that 55 it is a nice example. 55 or 56 I would take either.
First one I saw was a 4 door 56 and I realized this was the car for me. I was just starting out in mechanics (still in highschool) and everything about that vehicle was perfect, rust and all. I am not a fan of the 57, I prefer the hood and ornament on the 55/56. Just much cooler looking.

Oh man I need to do my gutters. These look pretty!

K,

Much easier when you can use a knotted wire wheel and not worry about the paint. Took literally 3 minutes to strip the old sealer down to where it is in the picture. Air gun the gutters, wipe with wax and greaser remover, wait a couple minutes, shoot some epoxy in the channels and ran Dynatron 550 (my preferred sealer).

Just remember when doing this as a repair.... Make sure that the sealer you use can be applied on bare metal, most urethane sealers are DTM, but double check the product you choose. If not you will need to prime first.

The Dynatron 550 is a bare/DTM sealer... but I'm old school and apply primer first. If the sealer fails the gutter/panel is still protected applying the primer first.

This is exactly why my 60 has not been painted yet. That is how I plan to do this as well, then in for paint in the next few days. But enjoying it to much.

Looking good. Body work I swear is the longest process for any build you can spend hours on one small spot just to make it perfect.

Prep is 90% of a paint job.................... That will never change if you want a decent result.

Precisely the reason there are fewer and fewer old school body and paint shops out there. The modern "collision center" has taken over. They only do insurance work on newer cars and trucks type of work. They do not repair sheet metal, they replace it, prep and paint.

A majority of the shops here are just that; full custom or collision centers, nothing in between really. With all the pot growers blowing their money on rods and boats the good custom shops here are up to 2 years out and won't even look at it if you don't have a 15-30K budget for paint and body.
