The trails led us eventually to a gorgeous spot. If it was summer, I would have spent the rest of the day in the water. And called-in an airdrop of beer. Lots of beer. Hoppy hipster beer. Even today I would have taken a polar bear dip, but my guide for the day said she had other plans.

That was pretty much it for the ride. But I had been feeling a little cramped in the cockpit of the Shenzhen Experiment (Which my guide re- named the Epic E-Faux. That might stick). I gave it some attention when I got home tonight.

So, I gave the cockpit, well . . . a little extra cock.

Took my recently-acquired Scott Sportster X50 for a proper ride, and... crap, I am distraught now.

This bike is ca. 2013. 3x8, mech disks (they need work/replacement), all else stock except for tires (700c x 40mm) and pedals. The bike is sooo comfortable, almost effortless, snappy (even though it weighs in around 28lbs). I did a 10mi ride around my area and it was just a joy to ride.

Afterwards, I noodled with my Dr. Dew (1x12, 700c x 40mm, ~29lbs) and took it for a short ride, and I was like - this thing is a tank, requires so much effort, and it is so, so long comparatively. I've put over 1k mi on this bike and absolutely love it, but my goodness what a chore to ride.

Going to take the Scott over to American Tobacco Trail tmr, which is a mostly flat rail trail 22mi long. If the Scott is really that much nicer on a longer ride, Dr. Dew may get sidelined and reserved for errands, groceries, and the like.

Boy look at that tread track! Got some meats on there!

Bluebird day, would love to experience some frozen fatbiking sometime.

I’m the 5th. 3 geared riders and 2 single speeders.

Cool, I always wanted to do a solo 24 hour when I was younger and my body could've taken it. Now, the only way my body is going to survive that is in a team setting I think.

Who am I kidding, I still want to do it-even if I'm hurting for the next week!

Have fun, hope you guys kick ass.
