ok did some serious reading in the electrical seciton of the FSM, took a few photos of my fuese box, and figured out the color code key

Seems like alot of my wires are not hooked up correct at the box!!!!

in my case, the red wire on the bottom side of the box is the wire from the voltage regulator btw

Should i rehook up the wires according to the FSM ( after installing fusible link to the starter )

what you guys think?

Looks like it is hooked up all jacked, suprised anything works haha ( i hooked it up back the way the PO had it hooked up when i dissasembled it )

here is the photo with my fuse box, FSM fuse box with color codes for 1964 fj40 FST and the wire color codes:

here is a better photo of the top side of the fuse box and the color of wires :)

Don't assume the wire's have the same function/color as original, you'll have to check on the other side if they have their original function.

hehe yeah, i poked around and looked where they connected into the harness.
Some weird stuff going on for sure :)

I did three things before i pulled the fusebox and sorted that

1) placed a fusible link between the starter and the white wire for the wiring harness

2) put new positive battery cable, dielectric grease to protect

3) new ground cable with dielectric grease, checked all other grounds and secured

I then pulled the fuse box and cleaned it up with a soft brass brush.

i Checked and reconnected the wires as the FSM show based on wire color codes

Started it up and everything runs great.
I can now have the wipers, heater, lights and turn signals all on at once at an idle, and the turn signals still blink

That being said I think i need to look into the generator and make sure the brushes and armature are correct so my battery keeps charging.

I will take some photos in a few seconds, just enjoying some hot coffee, it is fawking cold out there

ok Here is the new wire image, wired with the same colors as the FSM...

could any of you answer the 2 questions in the image?

Map light question :D

I was able to get one of those hard to find under the dash map; lightd a while back, and had a question about wiring...

The wiring diagram shows the map light connected to the ignition switch... but i am wondering, shoudl it be on the accessory connection of the ignition?

Does anyone have one wired?

Thanks guys :D

On later cars it would be on acc or permanent power. It makes sence to put it on acc. makes it more usable.;)

That is a great present, good to see your :princess: shares your enthousiasm. Nice.

How are the plans for moving, still happening or did you decide to stay.

Thanks man ;)

Looks like we are staying in portland which i am happy about :)

The wifey is interviewing at a few jobs in town :D

You've got a good woman there! I'd love to have an old Toyota toolkit. That one looks great. Some detailed close-up pics, when you can, would sure be appreciated here i'm sure. :D

Nice Destin, you have to love a wife who shares your love for the Yota.
