I feel comfortable doing the wiring if i knew that i was using the correct harness for each beam. In other words, i feel like i've read conflicting arguments on slee's harnesses not working out, or melting, and then others say they are fine, then i feel i've heard that there is a better option.... So i'm just not sure what to get. Same story with the bulbs for that matter.

I know this post will bring out the keyboard warriors like flies to sh1t but I don't care. I put HIDs in mine without a projector retrofit. Don't need to do anything with the wiring. These are 4300Ks

@jcardona1 I know your a proffesional photographer, so you can probably make a landfill look amazing, but where was that photo taken ?

Ooh and I just noticed you have the same badass Cabelas seat covers as me, woohooo. Where did you get the a pillar gauge pod from ? I'm sure its in your post but I don't feel like reading thru all 65 pages tonight.

Ha thanks! This was coming out of Loon Lake, trailhead of the Rubicon. There was a nearby wildfire that made the sky glow like mad when the sun started to set.

Gents,

I sold my 100 a while back ago. It was a quick move...I am still doing the headlights but haven't checked MUD lately due to new job, new place, etc, etc, etc. I replied to all your PM's and hope to hear from you soon.

Nick

PS: It 150% SUCKS not having a Cruiser :(

Wow this is good news. I had actually given up hope. Cool. BTW, you need a cruiser :flipoff2:

Yeah, well - you did get one of like 3 cars EVER that Jeremy Clarkson has said "this is head-ripping, donut making type power" - to that extent, and the traction control was completely choked by the data/wheelspin. (Top Gear UK for those who don't know) - and I recall one of the others wasn't TUV rated (not road legal in Europe) - It was an Ariel Atom with a forced 6 in it IIRC.

As to you getting back into the 80 lights - good, 2 guys up here have seen mine & I know 1 will lump up without thinking when I told him the ballpark cost.

Damn, who was crazy enough to buy THAT beat up Cruiser?! J/k

I've done my fair share of headlight harnesses and retrofits so whenever I get around to doing my depos that shouldn't be an issue. But, I do have a question for the guys with higher wattage bulbs in the H1 position.

Are you successfully running the plastic "adapter" needed to keep the housing watertight without it melting? Just looking over the lights when I got them a while back and that piece didn't look capable of supporting a high wattage bulb.

So far so good with my 100 watt'ers - but they're rarely on for more then 10 min at a shot around here....... will check after this weekend when I hope to get some road as we head off camping finally.... and get the damn truck dirty...

I think this was mentioned before but if you want a super high quality harness you need to talk to the guys at SPAM website I have had 2 of there harnesses and they are sweet. 10 and 12 guage wire only, crimped, soldered and shrink wrapped connections. When I bought mine two years ago for my 80 it was about $140 and I was super impressed when it showed up. They will make you whatever you want.

For hi-beams you may be surprised at how little wattage it really takes for the E-code design to put out great light. I only have 85w Hella bulbs in some E-codes on a BMW E30 I have, and they throw a ton of light down my ~400' driveway, even giving a nice cutoff at about 60' up the trees lining either side of the driveway (you see a nice diagonal line ramping from ~10' about 40' away, progressive to that ~60' mark when you turn in & are shining the full ~400'.

I had stopped at the 85's since I have that 3M rockchip film (about 2-3mm thick) on the lenses, and I was afraid of too much heat distorting/yellowing it if I did the 100 or the next step up (think it was a 125w?)

So these are the Depo's right?
Ebay Link
That's from the seller "neondials". Though for some reason he only has them on Ebay Canada.Listed for $229 + $195 Shipping.

Is that price on target for other's experiences?
Also, I'd like some good harnesses as mentioned above. Did folks just contact rallylights for a generic Toyota-to-Euro harness adapter or does rallylights do a special 80-specific harness for the Depo's?

Yes neodials is the depo go to guy. Just keep checking the ebay store and a US STORE version will be relisted with free shipping. And yes that is the price I paid but free shipping.

Ask for Ray at rallylights. He has a custom 80 series harness for the depos.

After a 10 hour road trip last weekend I am in love with the Depo's..... I am adjusting my cutoff up a bit today but otherwise they are perfect..... I ran the 100watt highs for long shots with no appar

ent issues.

I installed depos last weekend. Used Slee harness. Currently running 55w high beams. They really do leave alot to be desired for performance. Now wishing I had jumpered the h4 high beams with the h1 beams.

Nick, good to hear! I think I'm one of those PM's, either that or an email to your expeditionlighting address. We'll look forward to your replies.

So it seems that my OEM lights are Eurospec to begin with... Am I interpreting these inscriptions correctly?

This means I don't have to do any harness conversions to run my Depos right?
