Has anyone replaced the low fuel light and or low oil light with LED's? I've done mine but now they just stay on constantly.

I'd guess there is still nominal voltage in those circuits even when the lights aren't supposed to be on. The LEDs will light-up at the lower voltages where the OEM incandescents won't.

Some vehicles have issues like this when the stock incandescent dome lights are replaced with LEDs (the LED dome stays dimly lit when it's supposed to be off). The fix for them is to place a resistor in parallel with the LED - the resistor absorbs the residual voltage and the LED stays off when it's supposed to be off. I do not know how to figure out what value resistor will work for the tiny dash lights, but surely someone on 'MUD will know how to figure this out...

Has anybody come up with an updated list for these? I started looking but it looks like several have been discontinued. I need to find the correct bulbs to replace the Hazard flasher switch, Antenna up/down and the Cluster lights/ gear selector between the RPM/speed.

Just replaced mine, technically found it under "t4", i bought some on amazon...be careful, becuase the led ones were garbage, since they were diodes i did try spinning them 180, with the same results, about 3/10 worked. Though for 7 bucks per 10, its expected. I also bought some incandecsent ones incase, and they worked great, just swaped the boot in the green dash lit ones. Just search amazon "t4 dash lights", just be weary of the leds on there

HI everyone. After replacing all my dash with red leds 2 years ago I now Have serious problems keeping them from going out. Probably Cheap Leds are to blame from ebay. I have opened up the dash 3 times replacing leds. Not being able to see the dash at night sucks. When all of them are working the red looks bad ass on the white i replaced the cluster dials with. Any one have any idea why these leds would go out? I found halogen red bulbs and im seriously thinking of going that route as three types of leds have all failed. Current fail time 2 weeks from all lit up to only one bulb still working. any ideas guys?

So has anyone done the HVAC controls on a 91 the top half with temp control and blend mix bulb is out on mine no push buttons like on the newer model 80s.

Okay, did the full LED swap in my original HVAC controller... LEDs all work fine but the main 3 illumination bulbs are dead, I swapped them for LEDs and those didn't work at all, put standard bulbs back in and nothing. Any ideas, maybe the controller solder traces are actually dead? In the bottom pic, all three of those light should be on because the parking light circuit is enabled...

I changed out some bulbs in my AC. I might have extras....I will have to check. If not they are not too much.

I have a question that may have been answered in here. I tried to search!

The little backlight bulbs for my CDL and defrost lights are out. I'd like to get some cheap chinese LEDs to replace them since I can get a 10 pack for less than $3. My concern is that the LEDs will be comparatively brighter than the rest of the bulbs and make my instrument cluster look dim. I'm not ready to swap out everything so I'm thinking about ordering some more incandescent bulbs, but that seems like a waste if I will go fully down the LED path in a year.

Are these bulbs at the dealer for a non-insane price? I'm not paying 10 bucks for a single bulb.

I got a 2 pack of type 74 incandescent bulbs (the ones for HVAC controls) from batteries plus for 5 dollars the green condoms broke when i removed the old bulbs so I am just running white and its not horrible really not much of a difference.

Let me know what you figure out here. I still have incandescent in mine. One of the three worked when I got it. I put new bulbs in there and no change. I am guessing there is a board problem. If you find your problem let me know where.

I am also going to have to go in and look at the button enabled lights themselves. My vent location control lights do not work consistently. I can press the button and sometime the green light turns on and sometimes not.

On a side note, what have you guys been using to lubricate the buttons? Obviously cant use graphite since it is conductive.

I know my Auto button in the A/C panel sticks frequently from being old dry plastic. I have to press it a few times on alternating edges to get it to disable Auto now and then. You may try some silicon spray on the edges with the panel taken apart.

ok I am on a work trip so don't quite have time (yet) to scour this thread..

can anyone point me to a good LED bulb for my corner / hazard lights? I've checked the FSM and can't seem to determine bulb type to look up and order online - and I'm halfway around the world from my truck.

sorry if this is easily found, and great thread!

James

edit: revisited the first page and saw comprehensive list of lights (duh), appears a few part #s are missing

Most thorough thread I've seen on LEDs. Am I understanding correctly that the white lights behind the climate control are #74s ? Toyota says there are just 3 bulbs (pt # 8499-70015). But it seems like there would be one light for each of the 12 buttons.

Welcome to MUD!

IIRC there is one light for each row, so 3 makes sense.
